Just got JB3... Shell 91 > Sunoco 94?

Hey - just got my JB3 2.0 PnP installed, im currently on Shell 91 running map 3.... I'd like to go up to Map 5 but Octane 93+ is required... anyone know if the Sunoco 94 is any good? When i google it, all i see is that it makes the engine knocks and results in bad idle....

I dont want to add to our cars' problems above what the HFPF already does by adding shitty gas..

I have been using Sunoco 94 for over 3 years and got one HFPF replaced. I know few members have been using Shell 91 and already changed 2 or more HFPF. So I believe the brand of gas has nothing to do with the HFPF.

A friend of mine works for Sunoco. Funny thing is, brand of gas doesn't really matter at all. The oil refineries buy gas from one another and ship it as their own brands to meet temporary shortage in supply. So you could go buy petrocan gas, but getting Esso. 94 will always be better than 91 assuming the save level of debris in the gas. Debris, however, does matter as dirty fuel clogs filters and injectors faster. So there have been a few theories floating around when to get gas. That's an entirely different can of worms I won't get into here.

The problem is the HPFP design and not the fuel you put in the car.

You guys are correct....fuel has nothing to do with hpfp however . Porsche recommends you stay away from Sunoco as it has the highest ethanol content of all manufacturers which can cause problems apparently. I've used it for years without incedent

I only use Sunoco 94 and have been using it for over 50,000Km with no problems and original fuel pump. Map7 as a daily driver.

Ditto, exclusively use Sunoco 94. I daily on map 5 with meth map 8. 14,000kms and still running strong on original pump. Knock on wood.

Previous two mustangs ran better on Shell 91. They really did not like the ethanol. My 335i seems to like Shell 91 over Sunoco/PetroCan 94 as well.
