auto trans filter, and oil pan, change (automatic transmission on 2006 330i E90)

anyone done a flush and/or a filter change?

the bav auto tech dude said the filter is built into the pan, so it sounds like we are screwed, because of course, the pan/filter is over $200, rather than the $50 it would normally be if you could just get the filter.

part number:
01Oil Pan 24 11 7 571 217 $259.22

also, what fluid is being used. found a post by some dude that used the castrol multi vehicle import. anyone use the bmw stuff? part number?

You can buy the fluid at the dealership. Just make sure you get the pan.

When the dealership quotes $400 for the auto tranny change, do I have to assume that it includes the pan change or just a flush and refill with new fluid?

its good you have to change the pan because that also collects debree that is recirculated and can damage the tranny long term. If you plan to keep your car, or even if you dont but you are a stand up guy who likes to keep your car maintened well regardless of what happens to it-they definetly do this auto change every 40K miles-signifigantly will help your trany live long. We also have almost no torque in the 330 so our cars are not overly hard on the tranny so with good upkeep it will be smooth and silky for the life of the car.

I've been looking to do a filter and fulid change in my e90. I've found the filter/pan and misc gaskets for a decent price of 175. But I cant seem to find BMW spec tranny fluid.
