How you hold the E9x steering when you drive?
Random question, perhaps a stupid one.
How do you hold your steering wheel for long drives, so your arm does not get tired or restless. I am in the habit of gripping the right joint of the T, in between my thumb and fore finger while resting my palm on the steering. It becomes a bit tiring in the same position.

This isn't a dumb question. I can't tell you how many people I've seen driving nice M5's, 63 AMG's, you get the idea, nice, serious performance cars, and they drive with their hands at 10 and 12. Talk about dumbkopfs, it's as if they've never attended a driver ED or defensive driving class. You hold the wheel at 10 and 12 and there is an accident, nothing like punching yourself in the face twice.
I hold it just below the 9 and 3, as they instructed us in defensive driving. That instruction has been made since about 1994--here it is 2010 and you still have 10 and 12 drivers, which they taught our grandparents to do. |

just look at how out wheels are designed. i'd think that the most comfortable position would be at 9 and 3.

If I'm cruising highway with no traffic around, it's usually one hand around 7. As soon as the traffic starts up, or my speed increases on the autobahn, then the hands go up to just below 9 and 3 as John mentioned.
Oh, and it's dummkopf. |

In tenser situations, such as all the construction around here where highways are down to 2 lanes with no shoulders and 5 ft barriers on the left and semi trucks in the right lane and traffic is still doing like 70 I will grip at 9-10ish and 2-3ish.
Otherwise just cruising around and with less congestion it's whatever feels comfortable at the moment, usually just 1 hand |

I'm almost always at 9 and 3 no matter what the situation, it's the most comfortable for me.
