Talking Injen Intake :D ( NOW WITH VIDEO!!!!!!!!)

EDIT: VIDEO!!

*note on times, I would take the times with a grain of salt, I used my iPhone which gave me those times for 0-60, from 60-80 I went with stopwatch. I also averaged them, so the time on the video is not necessarily the time that I posted before.

Enjoy < : D!

EDIT: Got it installed!

BEFORE

After

Installation:
This is my first mod and did it with my dad. It took us two hours, mostly because of the texas heat. Some of the instructions did not match at all, for example it talks about a vacuum plug and our 128i dont have that, and it tells you to install the heat shield but there is already some hose connected there, so i had to unconnect the hose and leave it hanging there, although it is very tight. The hardest part was finding the right tools

Sound:
Like most people here, the sound is amazing!! I only have 10 miles driven on it, so I will give more results once I hit around 300 more.
0-3kish: a bit more deep then stock
3k-4.5k: a louder deep boom sound
4.5k+: kaboom everything goes loose and it sounds like its gonna explode

My dad drove it first, and from the passenger side I did not notice anything odd. No resonance! Of course, he was driving it under 3k, so it sounded like stock. Once I do some highway driving and more I will keep you guys updated!

Also, I have the flapper mod on this car.

Performance: Definitely more pull, I will have 0-60 and 60-80 times later, but I drove with 3 other people in the car(family). I definitely did notice a gain though, as the car feels somewhat slow when crammed up with 4 people, and now it felt like I was driving with just one other person.

Throttle performance is a big plus I noticed, and I didn't feel any lag as before!!

I will update once I get some more miles and alone time with the car !!

but overall a great mod and I love it ^_^!

if you have any questions please ask!!

I have the injen intake as well. It sounds great and you'll definately feel it. It's a good mod for the 128i

I'll be curious to hear about any drone issues. Someone posted the AFE drones at certain rpms.

There is some droning in my car around 4k RPM. Anything under that and you don't really notice it. Anything above that and your engine is about 3x louder (warning: it WILL scare you the first time you pull to 7000, it's normal for it to be that loud). Awesome mod and worth every penny in my opinion. Not too concerned about gains as long as there aren't any losses . Gains are minimal.

Install is pretty easy, follow the instructions. It'll tell you to rotate the clip under the power steering reservoir, you can probably just put some padding and tape on it (it barely rubs in mine, and I didn't rotate it). Be careful with the O2 sensor, it's a pain in the ass to get into the intake. Be patient and it'll go eventually.

Enjoy!!

I thought on their website it said they had factories across the nation.. and one in texas. guess the factory in texas didn't have any. O well no biggie xD

I am going to do some 0-60 runs and then some 60-80 runs before and after!

Do the runs the same day that you install, right before and right after. Same temp, humidity, etc..

We're talking about .1 seconds difference with the slight power increase, so anything more than that is just environmental factors, launch, etc..

I got it from autoanything.com. It comes with the free injen hydroshield and if you call and ask nicely they can give you up to 15% off which is what I got. Free shipping as well ! 276 total price!!

Let me know the details on the drone like I did for my afe review. Also I gained about 5.04 HP and 10.99 lb/ft at the crank from the afe.

Hello guys small update.
so i start school tomorrow so I won't be able to install it until saturday morning. I did some 0-60 runs using the dyno iphone app and got avg of 6.5(auto, no quick launch). I also took some video runs of 60-80,0-60 and cruising at 70. I will do the same and combine the videos and make a video : )! i will also retime 0-60 and avg them.

Unless I am seeing this wrong, all the air coming from both grills is wasted as it blocked by the heat shield.

Actually, the air duct goes on top of the heat shield, so the air still goes. the heat shield is underneath all of it

oops also sorry forgot to mention, the thing in the middle of your circle(the V shaped metal that is 90 degrees) helps direct airflow evenly to the filter. In the picture it looks like it is blocking it completely, but it is actually only about 1 inch tall, and not the 3 or 4 inches that it looks to be. if you want I can go take a better picture!

Nice one Looking good.

The 128i engine bay looks so much easier to work on than the 135i....our airbox is such a POS.
