Another HPFP bites the dust

Got the long crank on Wednesday and check engine light came on right away. Autowest BMW service confirmed that it was the HPFP, got authorization from BMW Canada and fixed it in one day.

Part number was 13-51-7-613-933 and I got a new software load. Hard to tell what version but there is a number TC#33702950.

My car was a Feb 2007 build with 34,000km, mostly Shell V-Power but some Chevron and Petro Canada mixed in there.

I could swear that the font has changed in the middle dash screen and the exhaust sounds louder now.

Got a Jetta 2.5 automatic as a loaner. Never been so happy to get back into my car!

I also noticed that the exhaust note got a bit louder after the software update, especially at lower rpm. Hopefully this hpfp holds up for you! I spoke to the head tech at autowest and he commented that this fuel pump (version 6) has a revised design and should hold it's seals better than the previous versions. Fingers crossed!

For sure, it doesn't inspire confidence in the product when it has been almost four years since the engine was introduced.

What do you guys think causes the increased noise? Its not as if the software can modify the exhaust system.

i don't htink the font has changed, but the icon now has the words "service" on top of the car icon when displaying the km/date until the next service when the car starts. before it was just the car icon.
