Best % Tint for Black F10

What do you guys think is the best shade of tint for a black F10 with black interior. I'm thinking no darker than 35% all the way around. Maybe 50% since the interior is already black? I want it to remain classy and not gansta!

Anyone here tint there sunroofs?

Tint light% is not the only consideration. You have to look at color and material. I have 30% Madico Wincos Premium tint all the way around. Check out my pics on this thread. (Also black interior).

Another consideration I think is the issue of the slight distortion that generally occurs on all rear windows that are tinted as evident at night. The film must go over the contour of the defrost wires. Depending on how thick the defrost wires are, this condition generally causes light to reflect oddly off the wires. I love high quality tint jobs - it can look great and it's practical - but I hate the rear window distortion issue at night.

Gatoman, how is it on your car?

I just got 35% all the way around installed. I think it's a little light. Maybe should have gone closer to 30% There's a little distortion from lights on the back window, of course. I don't think there's really any way to avoid it. With the Cinnamon Brown interior it looks good.

Well, until I get a tint ticket. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

I know what you mean with distortion. There is no distortion with the tint I got. Just make sure to get high quality film at a place that specifically does tint. I went to a place in SoCal, that all they do is tint. No radios,no car wash, no alarms. Just tint in a dust room (looks a bit like a paint room.) 3 to 4 people on the car at the same time, they have the process down. This is the same tint I have bought for the last two cars I have owned. (they leave no gaps on the windows).

How big a difference does the venting have on the interior temp?

Also, is there any real technology or noticeable improvement from the leather seating surfaces that is are purportedly able to deflect heat?

Tough to say, there are so many variables that will contribute to heat in your car. I put up the rear and side window shades. I have the custom windshield sunshade made specifically for the F10. I'm not sure if it's the white color, insulation of the car,the tint, the vent ability or the ventilated seats I got, but this is the coolest car I've ever driven.

Not sure what you mean. Does this come on the F10?

No to both. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to get your windshield tinted in CA. There is a factory tint to the windshield but it's pretty faint.

Yes, I read this somewhere. I will look for it and post info.

The seats on my 335i convertible supposedly had some kind of coating that would help reflect heat away from them. It definitely seemed to work because even with the top down, my seats never got that warm here in SoCal.

I don't think the F10 seats have that though. Less of a reason for it.

The tint place I went to offered a 3M 70% tint for the front windshield that will supposedly block 99% of UV (but so will the windshield) and about 40% of the incoming heat. It looks pretty clear.

I didn't go for it (yet). Yes, it's illegal. But then so is the 35% tint I put in the front windows, too.

The 3M tint information is here.

I have a feeling the automatic venting is the most significant part of why your car is so cool. I set the automatic timer and sat in the car to see what it did....actually pretty cool and useful feature. ONly thing is that it appears you have to reativate it every 24 hours. That's kind of annoying and not useful. Also, if it's very hot outside, wouldn't you just be putting hot air in the car. I guess it would cooler than the hot air in the car already though. Interesting feature.
