BMW Performance Intake
Ahh what a pretty site I had arrive today. BMW OEM performance intake to match my BMW performance Exhaust. Tischer has it on sale for 725.00 SHIPPED right now!
The exhaust has really made the car get up and go and has greatly eliminated the "lag" in the drive train. Should really have some kick with the combo! Now if only a performance tune would be available for less than 1000.00 that does not require hard wiring a box to the ECU! Don't have Dyno results yet, but found a place that does all wheel drive cars for 125.00 for 3 passes. By the way, the US performance intake DOES seem to use the K&N Filter in the kit from BMW. Warranty for 4 more years and performance to boot! Only 1500.00 for both! |

The thing that bothers me about the power box is that A: You have to tie it into your wiring harness (which I don't like since I am CPO for 4 years) and B: It has no way of identifying WHAT mode you are in! What don't they make an LED display showing what map you are on and why don't they build a plug in wiring harness for the 328 like they do for a 335?
What is a LET tune? I have not seen that anywhere on the forums. How much does it run? Are their dyno results for it? Mike Last edited by mikekilpatrick; 08-19-2010 at 07:21 PM.. |

I have also added: Performance Pedals for gas/brake/footrest, OEM rear spoiler, Sunroof windscreen, Sirius radio module, alarm module, Complete LED interior from Autohaus, wrapped steering wheel with leather, Beltronics RX75 Remote Radar Detector, Mud Flaps, OEM Front Bra (Only on Long trips for bugs and rocks), Trunk Mat to protect carpet.
I have a set of HID lights in the garage that I purchased converted, but not real happy with the way they were wired, so I will rewire them professionally and put those in soon as well. |

pics of install
A few pics from the install. Took about 1.5 hours, but I also cleaned the Throttle body of carbon build up while I had the intake out. The only pita on this job was a retainer clip up by the strut mount that MUST be snapped in for proper sealing of the intake. I ended up loosening the two screws on the intake cover (they come preinstalled) in order to lower the retainer clip enough to snap into place.

Oh yeah, and it IS an K&N filter that comes with the kit. I have not noticed a large increase in sound coming from under hood, but the car seems to max out the RPMS a bit higher now and there is a really nice power curve above 4000 rpms. Also, the secondary intake by the front windshield seems to benefit from passing at higher speeds of 40mph +

I too have not noticed any sound from the hood either. Why would we though as it is still a closed intake. All the intakes you hear sounding aggressive are open system. My throttle responce lag seems to have gone away after I got mine a few weeks back. Looking good OP!

noise is not noticeable at all - it's mainly a nice, clean pull without lag from higher rpms

Well I have the Performance exhaust so if there was an increase of sound from the intake, I can't hear it. I definitely notice a better pickup at the higher rpms, the engine just seems to "breath" better.
Its really nice when you are doing like 50-55 and nail it to pass someone or get back up to the speed limit, you are doing 90 in a blink of an eye it seems. |

Got the exhaust for 800 on ebay from Morristown BMW. They were asking 899 or best offer and I have to say I really am enjoying the exhaust/intake combo. Still wish the Power Box would get a little more sophisticated and have a true plug and play option, like they have for the 335 model. Also would like some sort of feedback so you know what performance stage you are in.
