Lets not forget that the original e30 M3 was also a "limited production" car of 500 units. But BMW kept making more & more of the Evo models bc of demand.

Everybody needs to start sending Dr Segler emails and letters letting him know what you think of limited production.

Dont be silly
The 1 series M is supposed to be the "affordable" M vehicle. Therefore, BMW are tapping into potentially a new market. On this basis, do you seriously believe they are going to limit production on this vehicle? Only limit is going to be factory producing the number of these car per month and when they decide to stop production on the vehicle due to the launch of the new 1 series.

http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=8 Why is the E30 M3 considered a homologation model? The main impetus for the E30 M3’s existence was Group A racing, a production-based class that demanded that each race car share its core mechanical components with a road car, of which at least 5,000 examples had to be produced. Thus, BMW Motorsport designed the race car first, then applied the necessary changes to the road car in order to homologate the competition machine. The E30 M3 street version and E30 M3 competition version are therefore quite similar. For example, the widened fenders were needed to accommodate racing rubber on the competition cars but were not necessary for the more modest tires of the street version. However, fender width had to be identical between the road and race versions, so both share the same flared arches.

I agree 100% in the interview the boss said they want to make the car affordable.....affordable=no limited production. Limited production=very expensive.

I dont think anyone should worry or buy into dealer's sales tactic that it's a limited production vehicle. Even if it is, relatively to other models, controversial design and end of run platform make 1M a niche market vehicle.
