Has anyone gone from a BMW to an Audi?

I am currently in a 330i. I am looking to move to a 07 A4 fully loaded. For some reason that I cannot say I want to try an Audi. Any suggestions without flames? Quite honestly I've gone from every car except Audi, Toyota, and a domestic.

May be you should ask in Audi forums...I guess....

Several times - both are good cars and both have their own quirks.

I came from a 2007 A3 TDI and then a 2008 TT 2.0T. The 2.0 is a great engine . . .TDI or FSI for that matter! The aesthetics of my TT make my e92 look so boring it's not funny! And the interior on Audi . . .well...my e92 is really growing on me and I appreciate its subtlety more and more. Not sure on that.

BUT . . .an A4 understeers and floats a lot. How do I know? MONTHS and MONTHS of driving various A4 loaners (TDI and FSI) while my TT's DSG was repaired and repaired and repaired and repaired. . . .and well...you get the point!

The A5 Sportback is a pretty sweet ride and I considered it and the A5 coupe against my 3 series . . . .but not for me. The 07 is a B7 A4 . . .to me it's getting dated pretty fast. . . probably because Audi comes out with a new model every other month.

Reliability of my TT aside . . .I would consider going back to Audi next time around. But where I'm at now . . .I'm putting my coin away for the next generation M3.

Life is short though...try it out! And if you live where there is snow. Quattro does beat the pants of xDrive.

Never owned an Audi, but I had a 2.0T GTI with DSG which is basically the same engine and transmission available on the A4. I think the engine is great and very easily tuned. The DSG is also great unlike the previous poster I had no issues with my DSG but still ended up back in a manual.

Anyways best bet is to drive them both and see what you like.

Had 02 m3, then 08 a4, 2.0t, 6 speed, quattro, giac stage 2.....

Was very happy with a4, very good mpg, nice ride, nice torque, pretty fast too....I would say around 5.8-6.0 sec car (that's stage 2 again). Had a4 for 1 year (25k miles), had zero problems, my friend has one with 50k and only had a few o2 sensors replaced. Although just like 335s have hpfp problems, a4s eat oil like crazy, audi said its ok to add 1qt every 1k miles.....I didn't have this problem, but my friend does.

Went from Audi/VW to BMW

I had an '03 Audi A4 w/Quattro that my daughter was driving and this past year started having issues with flange coolant leak (repaired/replaced 4 times), thermostat and the electrical cooling fan. I ended up trading it in for a CPO '07 335i sedan and letting my daughter drive my 2010 VW Jetta Wolfsburg (2.0 T). The Jetta just gives me some peace of mind as my daughter is off to college. It get's better gas mileage, still under warranty and free maintenance. It also has DSG, but we have not encountered any issues with the transmission.

It depends on the application.... it is doing very well in low-cost compacts and is terrible in heavy vehicles.

As example a 2010 AWD 2.0T 200HP auto tiguan has a worse fuel economy as a 2010 AWD 3.5L 276HP auto Santa Fe (heavier by 400lbs and running on regular).

18/24 of the VW vs 20/26 for the Hyundai.

2011 tiguan are now 20/25, barely match the 3.5L that has 76HP more!

Had an 06 A4 2.0t Quattro 6mt (B7) before I got the 335. If you throw on some coilovers, different exhaust and a tune its a pretty fun car. Used it as a DD for about 60k miles (2 1/2 yrs) and really only had some minor issues which are well documented on sites like Audizine. Like another poster mentioned, go to one of the bigger Audi forums and you'll find answers to almost all of your questions.

my mom had a 07 2.0t a4 and now a 2010 2.0t a4. major lag from start and stop, almost hard to control it really...also its not really sporty, but I don't think my mom has the sport package if there is one, so base seats and base suspension. its a good DD as its never had any issues over the 4yrs of ownership but alot different than my e92. i do like the exterior and interior looks. audi's got thier design game down.

Check out audizine.com. It's pretty much the Audi version of e90post. You should be able to find plenty of people over there.

My older brother went from a 325 to an 06 A6. He would not go Audi route again. He said it's too nose heavy and he had the entire suspension modified to improve handling. His A6 has about 80k trouble free miles. Audi, according to him, has improved a lot since the day when my parents had their '87 5000. The 07 A4 with the turbo 4 banger is a nice looking car but not my cup of tea. Test drove it with my friend and the engine feels coarse and noticeable lack in torque.

I had an 02 A4, and was going to get an 07 S4, but after test driving that and the 335i, I was sold on the BMW.

When I almost bought 2008 3.2 fully loaded "executive edition" A4 (MSRP $48K) 6-speed. I was pretty surprised how different it is from the base model (which i ended up buying because I wanted 2.0T). Car was amazing, Ti pkg, S-line pkg, Technology pkg, and even rare upgraded premium leather.

B7s are 2005.5-2008 (no face lift), 2009s are B8s < full redesign (interior, exterior, engine, and drivetrain including revised Quattro)

I went back and forth between Audi and BMW.

'99 Audi A4 2.8
'02 BMW M3
'06 Audi A3
'09 BMW 535i
'10 BMW 335d

There were other cars in too, but I only listed Audis and BMWs.

I will likely not purchase anymore Audis unless it's a killer deal on an R8 or something. Not that they're not good cars, but I just don't like them as much as BMWs. Your feelings may differ.

My suggestion is to see if you can get one to drive for a week or something and see if you like it. Or just bite the bullet and get the car and drive it for a year. If you like it better than the BMW, good for you. If not, sell it and get another BMW!

I came from an A3 2.0T thats practically fully loaded. I loved that car, but it was time for a change. If you're getting an 07 A4 do yourself a favour and not get it. Its quite terrible to be honest, part of the reason why I went for an A3 instead. The A3 is nimbler than the A4 and DSG made it an easy decision.

Trust me on this, only buy an Audi that is Fully Loaded. It does change the car quite a bit. A base model Audi w/o sport package / s-line is worthless; probably better off buying a VW.

If you must go B7 chassis, buy an S4. The 2.0T application on the A4 was horrible. You can feel the engine vibrate like a tractor during idle and low speeds, something that was non-existent in my A3 (same engine, different transmission).
