Icy Roads
Look at this! Icy Roads, its hilarious. And out of all these cars, the best performer was the black e90 towards the end of the video!

Holy crap... That sucks for everyone in that area.
The guy that kept hitting the gas in the begining was kinda dumb.

Yup, it sucks for those whose cars happened to be parked along the street.
The first guy seemed like he was pissed after the initial crash and decided to total his car(!). It's like he went plowing at full speed into everyone when he could have just stopped.

It was in Portland, Oregon. It NEVER gets iced over like that so people have absolutely no idea how to drive on stuff like that in the downtown area. Nobody has winter tires since it never snows up there for a prolonged amount of time and usually melts pretty quickly. I'll bet none of those people had any idea the roads would be like that when they got in their car. Once they got on the ice most of them would have no idea what they're supposed to do. They're just having a freak cold streak up there right now.
Most of my family lives up there and the few times is snows up there, I'm always amazed at how bad people drive. Once you get out to Mt. Hood and surrounding areas, the drivers are fine in the snow, but in the Portland town area, its just shocking sometimes. |

Yep, that's pretty much par for the course here and down there. The people have NO CLUE how to drive in any situation. When it's raining, they are depressed and run into each other. When it's sunny out they are too busy enjoying the sun break and crash into each other. If it snows they typically park on the interstate, and when it's icy, they try to go up or down hills. Outside of Florence, Italy, this area has the scariest drivers I've been around.

What did the first guy score? Nine other cars and a lampost?
I have three sets of winter tires (still in the garage, not on the cars, we haven't had a real winter yet) but I'd still stay home. My winter tires don't stop some idiot from trying to drive an SUV on ice with summer tires or bald tires. |

Under the right conditions and situations (no parked cars, keep speads low), driving on slippery roads is a blast if you know what you are doing. When you go to preformance driving schools (I did the Saab Viggen flight academy at Road Atlanta) they have wetted slick areas to teach you how to skid and regain control. I actually look forward to those snowy days we have in Vermont. Ear to ear grins when the back end breaks loose. That said, I am discovering that the DSC on this new xi is really hard to defeat...

First winter I had my TT with brand new winter tires, I was on my way home on icy roads stopped at a light, and I see this big ML320 coming down the road honking its horn. It came all the way down the street at 5mph honking like a crazy person, and then when it got to the light, it rear-ended me. I got out and said WTF?! and this woman got out and said, I was trying to tell you I couldn't stop! Stupid overweight SUV with 20" wheels and summer tires.
