Hi everyone!

Hi all! I am currently waiting on my new 335i (being built in Munich as we speak), so I don't have pics or anything yet. Figured I’d register and post up an initial post (it’s kinda long).

I’m coming to your community from the GM F-body community, currently selling my 2000 Trans Am (400rwhp). The TA was getting a little long in the tooth and modded to hell, and i'm rapidly approaching 40, so the whole getting in/out of a lowered TA has gotten to be a pain. plus there is 99K on the clock, and everything on the interior is getting loose. Many people that saw the car at shows would comment what good condition it was in, and thought it was a newer car. I’ve always taken good care of it, but it’s just getting old. This is one issue that led me to pull the trigger on a new bimmer.

Last year, I went to Oktoberfest in Munich, and stopped by the BMW museum. what a place! A very cool experience. Should you be in Germany, by all means - go check it out. When i first arrived in europe, as I was waiting for my TA to arrive by boat, I bought a old BMW as a temp car, a '93 325i. This car had probably been through a dozen owners, and had 220K on the odometer. It was obvious some knuckleheads has owned the car previously, cause the speaker holes had been cut too big in the doors, the driver's side window glass was held up in place inside the door with a prop, and someone had crammed a piece of foam egg crate in the airbox in place of a filter. Well, I fixed all the problems with it, and it was STILL a solid car, no weird noises, so abberant electrical behavior, no grinding or clunking; amazing. A Ford or GM product of the same age and having had the same life would have been in rusted pieces by then. These are the main reasons I decided to go with BMW over any other brand.

So, last week I went to the dealership and ordered:
2011 335i- Space Gray paint, Coral red Dakota leather interior, Glacier silver trim
Steptronic transmission w/ paddle shifters
M-Sport package
Premium Package
Navigation/iDrive
Comfort Access
iPod/USB

A pretty stunning car should I say so…
Anyway, I’ll be looking to the community as a bimmer newbie for advice and recommendations on interior/exterior mods, motor mods and the such. I’ll post pics as soon as I take delivery of it. So, long story short… Hello!

Welcome.

You are going to love your 335i. Space Gray/Red is fantastic.

Sounds like you know cars and take care of them well - you will be in heaven with your new 335i!

First things first - welcome to the forum (congrats on the soon to be new car) and thank you for serving our country!

Regarding the car - when I ordered mine in August, 2 days later I received my production order number from my CA. When the car was finished production, I emailed my CA and he gave me the VIN. I never received anything from BMW with the VIN and the Owner's Circle has never been updated with it. With the VIN, I was able to find out that my car was put on a ship last Wednesday.

Again, welcome to the forum - lots of great info here!

Thanks all for the warm welcome. This will be my first new car (new from the factory). I just received an email from the dealer with a estimated delivery date of 28 October. It's one month, and feels like a year. Once i get the car, I will have it for about a week before I drive out of Italy, across France, to the UK and my next assignment. That should be fun. As mentioned earlier, I'll post pics when i get the car. (and maybe a few of the trip).

This my third bimmer girl...the previous two were quite obnoxious (525 touring & 325xi). I hope my current bimmer girl will be better...LOL

Lucky? Ha! It hurt the fiber of my soul to part with $50K.

And tempermental? I think my TA is the epitome of tempermental...

Assuming you'll eventually be bringing this to the US, be sure Not to do any irreversable euro spec mods. You'll need to meet US specs when you get back.

Ha Ha, Snootch was the name of my first pug. (RIP) The pug in my avatar is Tater. The pic was taken about 100 milliseconds before he ran face-first into the camera when he was a puppy. I still use the Snootch name on forums and email though.

UPDATE: My delivery date is 2 November. I will be going to Munich via train with a friend of mine, collect the car @ BMW Velt, then driving it back to Italy. I just bought the train tickets. I can't wait. I feel like a 8-year old waiting for Christmas. I swear it's going to test the fiber of my being to resist opening it up on the autobahn. (break-in period)
