i used to bring my g35 there, but it was silver (cant see swirls so bad anyway) I never noticed anything out of the ordinary...also I see crazy expensive cars there all the time. Either they're pretty good or those people don't give a f@#k. I just wash at home now though. I something happens I know I will have done it rather than some mexican making $10/hr.

I am new in ATL since October and my baby needs a bath - but I have a problem!
Are there ANY BRUSHLESS WASHES in this city? I want to use a wash service instead of wash @ home b/c of the drought...and this freakin' city has no brushless car washes!!!???? Cactus, brushes, yeah...but brushless washes - no? Wtf...

Cactus uses the big rags rather than brushes. I live about a mile from the one on Ponce. I used to use it all the time with my steel grey SAAB and they definitely get the car clean, and of course that color didn't show swirls that much anyway. I'd prefer they used microfiber towels for drying but that's not gonna happen. My car is filthy right now so I'm really toying with letting them clean it with the drought and it being a bit chilly anyway. I hate letting anyone else touch my paint . . .

Yeah, I broke down and used a hand wash near the office in Norcross the other day. Have been to the Cactus on Ponce and found it passable - def hated to see them dry the car, but washing yourself isn't an option now. :|

I've always washed my own car too but this whole drought thing makes it really hard. I found a self car wash place that doesn't mention anything about bucket washing (most of the ones i've found prohibit bucket washing and i've been called out on it) but it's too far from home. Plus it's so damn cold now to be touching water...
I broke down and used Sky on alpharetta hwy (3 mins from work for me so it's great!) early this month... They're running a special for 29.99 for unlimited washes for an entire month. They gave me an entire month for free just so I can decide if I want to stay with them or not. THey also have other packages for full interior and exterior clean / wax and what not for 65 bucks... A machine washes it first, then they hand dry it, clean the wheels, tire shine and what not... I am pretty happy with the results... They have ALOT of nice cars go through there so like the other poster said, they either do a really good job or those people just don't care. You actually get to see the mahine wash your car through a large window in the main room.. |

I gave Sky a shot today. I did accept the free(free after I paid for my 40$ car wash today) unlimited washes for a month. The free month is a 'trial' to give them a chance to prove you would like the results.
The wash was quality, they have slowed the speed through the tunnel, and the tunnel appeared in top notch shape and very clean. They also seemed to take great care when drying, detailing, etc after the tunnel. The towels were a very high quality drying towel, and fresh towels were used for every car. The car was very clean. I noticed very little to no swirling on the large panels I made note of prior to and following the wash. All that said, the windows were not very clean. They advertise cleaning windows inside and out, to which I felt the job was very sub par. They also ignored the inside sunroof even though I made sure to leave the cover open. There was a tiny bit of soap residue left in the passenger side mirror, no big deal, but a detail I feel should not have been missed. The car was not completely dried, although they did pay close attention to door jams, and edges under the trunk and the hood. The tire shine at this place, just like every other place like this on the planet, is beyond terrible. Special note to tell them not to apply it next time. I fully do not believe they are anywhere near the worth of a 42$ wash that is a standard interior/exterior. That said, they do seem to take precaution with the paint, and do a more decent job than any other place I have to take the car to. I feel like the unlimited washes is totally worth it(at 65$), as long as you get 6 washes a month which is very easy to do. I will probably take mine twice a week for the remainder of the month to verify my opinion of them. The two largest factors for me to consider here are the care that they take in the summer to remove bugs since driving in the south during the summer is horrible to that respect. And second, I really only consider this a viable option should Atlanta remain in a drought situation, and washing the car myself completely out of the question. As stated above in this thread, there isn't a car wash on the planet that will pay the attention to detail you will yourself. |
