BMW 550

This is probably the most childish post I have made ever...

BUT:
A new v8 twin was teasing me today AND I killed him!

next to eachother on a empty highway he just could not pass me and I even drove away! And the guy was not amused I can tell you!

For this amazing experience I would express my special thanks to:

Vishnu; For taking care of all my HP's on a daily base
Helix; For keeping my IATS low every time again
AR; for sound and that extra bit that made the difference today
STETT: For securing the boost I needed at that moment
AFE: For having the car breathing like it should
Drexler: Providing me with traction over and over again
BMW: Overall, M3 parts and exhaust.

Of course to all fellow board members for inspiration and support so I kept trying....

Special love to my partner who still wants to life with me while I prefer to sleep in the car at night....

LOL... but it was really fun and amazing!

So with a tune, dps, ic, exhaust, and LSD you beat a stock BMW 550?

How in the world is that surprising?

It is a bit surprising... the hp per kg is even stock not a that big difference.

400hp on 1805 kg = 0.22hp/kg
380hp on 1500 kg = 0.24hp/kg

Besides that, the face of the driver was just a mastercard moment...
Nothing serious about this thread, just a fun moment!
The sleeper effect of this car is just great every time again..

A tuned 550 will again eat us... but it was just a nice moment ...on a highway while the sun went under....

Pure childish but a lot of fun.... too me...

They run 13.1 at 109mph according to C&D. So no way a stock 335i will hang with one.

I can imagine a 550i at the race track with a set of "up-pipes" Direct pipe right from the rear of the turbo venting directly up to a cutout in the hood.

My buddy has a 545 and before I modded my car we tested the cars on the highway. A couple of 60 to 100 or so pulls, and every time he pulled away from me. Not much but he still pulled. So I'm sure even the old 550 would take a stock N54, I don't even think the N63 would be a contest.

The new 550i weighs 4376 pounds with the automatic transmission
It has 400 hp and 450 tq
The lowest 0-60 time I have seen is 4.7... usually 4.8 - 4.9

I would say that a tune only 335i should walk it... but that full bolt ons and tune are required to hang with the 550i if it is tuned

His V8 is going to pay off more at higher speed than your turbos... I would say the 550i and 335i were pretty much equal in terms of acceleration back then

Except it doesn't have 400 Horsepower.

It dynoed 391 RWHP at MD Automotive.

415 Horsepower M3 on same dyno puts down 15 Horsepower less.
