SunRoof

Is a sunroof still an option or does the group believe that the carbon roof is part of a the weight savings design plan?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

for such a huge improvement in the car, and only a slight cost increase is quite impressive.

not to mention standard 7 gear SMG (sure about this one?)

I thought for sure that I was gonna trade in for the upcoming 4.8is equivalnet in a year or two, but now Im adding this to the list.

Two different machines, but each have their pros.

- I agree, they did the same thing with the upcoming E70 X5... More features/gadgets but minimal price increase...

Probably a credible price sheet as with all options it goes north of 69K. Wonder what the 19 inch wheels look like????????

A .8 liter increase in engine size, and two more cylinders, and only a 48 lb-ft increase in torque? That's significantly less lb-ft/liter than the old 3.2l I6, not to mention slightly less hp/liter. What gives? I kinda hope these engine stats are underrated.

More importantly, I guess... WHY, WHY, WHY is the Logic7 system a $1200 option on an M3, when it's standard on the 330i and will be on the 335i?

I much prefer that it be an option, not everyone wants to be forced to fork over $1200 more (or even $500 for that matter).

As for torque, that has been a complaint of E60 M5 owners. Personally, I'll be content with whatever it has, especially if the specs/pricing prove to match the above list.

Actually, just about the same hp/liter. S54 = 333 SAE hp/3.246 liters = 102.6 hp/l. V8 = 412 SAE hp (417 DIN)/4.0 = 103 hp/liter. Just slightly less torque: 262 lb-ft/3.246 = 80.7 lb-ft/l; 310/4.0 = 77.5 lb-ft/l.

Still, better than the RS4: 420/4.163 = 100.9 hp/l; 317/4.163 = 76.15 lb-ft/l.

Ah, my bad. I didn't realize that the S54 was actually 3.246 liters. That tweaks the numbers a bit.

And yeah, you're right. We can assume the M3 will be lighter than the 3900lb RS4 - I think we have to be looking at 3600lbs MAX... the current M3 is 3400, and the aluminum V8 and carbon-fiber roof should save some weight, then we add some back because of the size increase and more standard equipment. Which means it'll be faster with the engine specs so similar. That's nice, at least. My guess would be 4.3 seconds to 60.
