2009 335i X-Drive engine replacement

Hi guys, I am new here, I just got a '09 335i X-Drive Automatic from auction and it has a bad engine, it is hydro locked. I have found a good engine for about 4800$ with 14k miles and was wondering how hard it is to replace it by myself. I don't have a lift in my garage, I am planning remove the bumper and pull it out through the front. Is this doable. Does it have to come out with the transmission or just the engine? Is there an DIY here on the forum? Does anybody have any advice? My local shop asked me for 1400$ to have the job done. Please advice. Thank you. Adrian

just the engine . its a very very tight fit with a huge amount of parts attached to it so either you are a good mechanic or let the shop fix it.

The car doesn't have warranty anymore, it was voided heaving a flood brand on the title. I wouldn't say I am a good mechanic, just mechanically inclined. I have just finished rebuilding an ATV engine and I have worked before on my A4 3.0 V6 (timing belt...). I have just bought the Bentley manual and will have a better idea of what I need to do.
Thank you for your reply's.
