ZSG M with 8 gears..

There will be a ZSG (for non-M models) and a ZSG M (for M models).. the ZSG M will feature in the new M3 and wait... HAVE 8 forward gears.. the shifts will be seamless and incredibly faster than any SMG or Audi DSG could dream about..

The short ratios will keep the M3 V8 in its high revving power peak(YEAH BABY SO HOPE WE GETTING FLAT-PLANE CRANK!!) so revs dropping no lower than 7000 RPM after shifts.. So BMW M will once again be using the gear ratios to fully exploit the cars potential..(bang it to 9000 RPM then back down to 7000 RPM and then it happens all over again).. this is all good news to me..

Also the new M3 will be 'THE' premium M car and have a 0-100 kph time of 4.5 secs..

Same thing I was saying couple of weeks ago when it was still assumed it'll be 9000 rpm redline. However, this might not be true of the production model, as it seems it has ran into some problems in durability testing. But let's hope so.

Best regards,

Jussi

Hmm, I don't know whether to beleive this maggo fellow. He says he test drives for BMW. And always shoots down the speculations.

Either way I hope that the gearbox in question is true. It would be an astounding acheivement if it is.

Well maggo, we are expecting basically this: 8000+PRM, 410-450HP, 3450-3600lbs. A better gearbox than SMGIII, and great handling.

Bonuses would be: 450HP, adjustable dampening, wild 8 speed gearboxes, 9000RPM, weighing under 3500lbs.

Thats me at least.

PS. Are you really a test driver or aren't you?

Massive speculation

Come on folks, get over the pure speculation/fantasy. The new M will not have a flat plane crank - that would be a whole new engine and most agree the new engine is at least partly based on M5. It will almost surely not have a 9k redline. And if I was a betting fellow I'd place a huge wager hat it will not have neither a "ZSG M" nor 8 fwd gears. Last but not least it may be the sportiest M but never the "premium". That is the 5/6.

Any sources of any any of this SPECULATION!

I do buy the 4.5 time however

"Hat's off" to Maggo for not believeing the SPECULATION and for being funny.

The source of this topic comes from a magazine who got the M5 specs, Hp, kW, N.m SMG and all ABSOLUTLEY correct way before any mag in the world, so I'll leave it at that but the time will tell.

Well I will go ahead and respond to your attempt at a philosophical statement, only because you responded to mine. I like to dream about the specifications on the upcoming model E92 M3. Thats what the forums are for...

And maybe sometimes not even dream but get some facts. Many of you now know a few that you wouldn't know without this forum. For example, the 4.0L V8 is a fact. Many people who come here might not even know about that for sure. It was rumored for long to be a turbo charged unit (because people confused it with the N54 turbo development.) - not so anymore.

Best regards,

Jussi

Has been, but there were persistent rumors before the 335i was released that the upcoming E90/E92 M3 would have a turbo engine as well.

Sadly the sound clips from the ring indicate its not a flat crank engine.

A flat crank wouldn't require a new engine design. Its just a diffrent firing order and crankshaft. However, the engine would have much more vibration than BMWs are known for unless they installed ballancer shafts. At that point most of the advantage is lost.

I have seen the 8 gear rumor, still don't buy it.

Bravo.

Observing the forum for quite some time now, but just newly a member.

I must say Jussi JK42, you are perhaps the only, truly believable, credible source on the E92/90 M3 topic. I also admire your levelheadedness in your responses.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the points of view and opinions here, however, I believe Jussi offers us a unique perspective into this topic that others can't truly provide. No one else, at least yet.

Thanks for all the info Jussi. Keep it coming!

I hate to say it but a believable, credible source on the new M3 won't tell anything about that car (e.g. Maggo); it would be great, if jussi is the exception of that rule. But i take all that information as what it is, a big rumour.
BTW no offense against jussi, we're all trying to seek information about that car.

Best regards south
