Yet another "buying help" thread...

Happy turkey day everyone,

Ive been looking at a few 2007 cpo 328i's this weekend, one dealer told me all their prices are firm and there is only a wiggle room for a few hundred dollars, is this typical of GVR? The car I've been eyeing is an 07 328i listed for 33000, zpp, zsp. The problem is there are a couple of 08's similarly equipped for 3000 more. Is it just me or is the 07 overpriced?

Price is negotiable, I got mine $2500 under listed price which seems to be normal and I am sure many other has done better, like any transaction it all depends how motivated is the dealer to sell; for this case being an 07 they should defiantly be very motivated.
If you are north of the 30K mark you should be looking at 335i… an 07 328 should be lower than 30K unless car is exceptional.

My 2 cents.

I got the same line about there being no margin on the certified cars. It's complete BS, given that they buy them from auction at prices far less than what they go on to list them for. The certified stuff really doesn't cost them much. The guy at BMW Store in Van showed me what they spend getting them ready for sale, and in most cases it's under $1,000.

Thing is, once they've given me that line I just don't feel like buying from them.

I got -3000$ on the CPO shown price.

I bought a Graphite Touring so it was difficult to found another non grey e91 and my negotiation leverage wasn't big.

The main reason I'm not looking at 335i is that this is my first bimmer, coming from a Honda I want something more reliable and affordable than a 335. Twin turbos and hpfp just scare me... This is also a car I'm hoping to keep for at least 5 years as a DD.
It's a great idea to go off the 335 prices, 5k below a 335 price would work for me

Aspiring335:
Yea, it's a total buzz kill, i asked them about the work they did on the car, wasn't much on their list. I think I'll wait a week or two, if the car is still there I'll make an offer, got nothing to lose!

Woodpecka:
That doesn't sound too bad at all.

Thanks for the info guys.

The power of that 335i really is intoxicating. If you seriously want a 328, DON'T drive a 335, it will ruin it.

As for CPO - there is always room to deal. How much depends on specifc car, how long it has been on the dealer lot, similar cars in inventory, general sales volumes for the month, etc. 3-5% off asking price would be reasonable.

Search the BMW pre-owned inventory, find the car you want most and any similar cars you would like in the area. Wait until the weekend of Oct 23 to go in, last weekend of the month is always the best time. Sales department wants to make monthly numbers, dealer wants the car out of inventory before next months interest is due. Make an offer for 95% of the asking price. Maybe offer to pay full price for the clear bra or some other dealer installed options you want.

When salesman comes back with a NO, up the offer a couple hundred. And be prepared to walk out, any make a similar offer on a similar car at another dealership.

Hello Want,
I agree with your approach, you can always put your offer on that table and put the pressure on the sales person to accept or reject, as long as you can pass on the car if you don’t get your price there is nothing for you to lose.

I came from Honda too and I am sure you will enjoy the BMW experience, Best luck getting your new 3 series.

I bought an suv a while back, I argued with the wife to spend the extra dough. Walked away and bluffed the salesman down to "her" ridiculously low offer as he went after us out the door. Funny thing is I wasn't bluffing...she meant it. I was happy in the end, but couldn't believe what just happened.
