MangaFlow vs BMW PE Exhaust?

Seems like the magnaflow is out now for the 128i, as seen by the website and it is now showing up on other websites that sell magnaflow products. I am thinking about what I want for xmas .

Reasons I might go with magna flow:
Lower Price
Its the entire system I think(well it is catback), whereas the BMW PE is just the end of the exhaust system right? Which would mean less weight and more gains most likely out of this exhaust then BMW PE.

Reasons I might go with BMW PE:
(price drop during xmas probably!)
Great sound!
BMW warranty!
The sound of the magna flow could be horrible! There are no soundclips to tell me anything about the one for 128i, granted I know magnaflow is a big company and well respected.

So, what are your thoughts? I am open to anything really. I think my price range is about <700$ dollars, depends how good santa thinks I have been

What do you want for the holidays?

Until I hear a sound clip I won't buy. The only Magnaflow I heard was on a Cooper S and it was really loud.

magnaflow has an outstanding reputation for their sound in all their exhaust products (just like Borla which is my favorite btw). im sure the magnaflow sound and even performance will blow the BMW PE competition away, however.. and this is a large however.. its the warrenty.

do you feel comfortable going in for services and other things with an aftermarket exhaust? performance gains are none to minimal with the PE, however, if the magnaflow is a full cat back and then it might provide just an fraction of better performance so you can add that to your maglfow list as well i guess.

BMWPE has a very nice sound IMHO, only loud when you want it to be. For me that is the best part.

Wink

Have or had same issue with our new 128. Have a Stebro on our Z4si and its marvelous...and did not want a wimpy sound for the 1er. Was moving to Maggy but was recently at a dealer in Lexington, Ky where they had an HPE on a new 128 in the showroom [they added in from day 1 knowing it would sell the car etc] They started it up and it was marvelous. I ordered one and you can get the OEM sound with warranty and NO error lights coming on for less than you are quoting for the Maggy. Nothing wrong with Mag but the HPE is tuned by them to match all the danged computer issues, and if the error light comes on, its they who have to get things right. They did tell me that there is not warranty on error lights without the tuned system. So less money, and no risks and a greeeeat sound. I am looking forward to getting home from China assignment and getting that rascal on--my dealer emailed and its awaiting the install for Christmas...not a bad way to enjoy the holidays. Good luck on your choice...its a big one in way.

Magnaflow is pretty tame IMHO. I would look for the biggest weight savings. If I could cut 25+ pounds with a new cat back that didn't wake the dead, I would be interested. For me stock sound is sufficient to justify NOT buying an exhaust that nets a louder tone and marginal HP gains. I don't think you can go wrong with Magnaflow tho.

How much is the magna flow? I just got a PE for $725. It aimed like a good value, is well made, lighter than stock, and really does sound quite nice. A light touch on the throttle and the exhAust note is not that loud. Rev the engine up throu the gears and it definitely sounds great. And the warranty is intact!

magnaflow is about 500. Look it up at autoanything.com, free shipping, and type in loyalty to get 15% off.
