Tool Scan....Fault code 2A87 Exhaust Vanos Mechanism

2A87 Exhaust Vanos Mechanism.
29E1 Mixture Control 2
29E0 Mixture control

Can anyone recommend whether a repair is needed? I looked at the Mr 5's code list, and I wasn't able to find any codes that matched the ones above. Can anyone tell me what those codes mean?

swap the vanos solenoids and see if the problem moves to the inlet...if so...u need new solenoids

the solenoids are located at the front of the engine and are connected to the dme by a clip...just pull that out nd twist and turn out

idk what 29e1 or 29e0 are tho

This is what I did to solve my vanos problem. Not sure if it will fix your issue though.

I got these codes...

2A87 VANOS exhaust – stiff; jammed mechanically

3100 Boost-pressure control, deactivation – boost-pressure buildup prohibited

The funny thing was, the engine light never came back on again. The mechanic said that unless the codes come back again, he didn't think that the solenoids should be replaced. Should I replace the solenoids anyways just to be on the safe side?

They are replacing both sensors in my car under warranty, I got those two same codes many times.

One thing I notice is that I got those more often when the oil was getting dirty!

Thank you! I think I'm going to just head to the dealer and buy both solenoids and have my mechanic replace them.

I just got my car back for these same exact codes. The dealership replaced the Vanos solenoid, problem solved.
