GIAC VS JB3 2.0...which would you pick with my mods?

Alright, I have an E90 335I and I have had the JB3 2.0 on it along with FMIC, catless DP, free flow catless exhaust, Meth, intake. I just took it to the track this past weekend and managed to run a 12.4 at 115 mph 1/4 mile on street tires and 93 pump running map 7 in sunny 57 degree weather. I was hoping for better results but was pleased overall, I certainly would love to do highn 11's as I have seen mid 11's with cars that have less mods than I do. The next big investment would be a turbo upgrade but won't do that at least not now, so I started searching the GIAC flash and I felt from the comparisons and videos that GIAC stage 2 might actually have higher output of HP than the JB3 2.0...am I wrong, am I missing something that can increase the performance of my car?
genuine help will be much appreciated. Please help.

btw, I was told that I if i go with slicks or semi slicks that would get me there, but I find that hard to believe especially that I had a pretty good launch launching in 2nd gear (AT) at 1400 rpm to prevent spinning and letting it redline and change automatically.

I am gonna have to look into that. I also met a local member that has a good relationship to JoeTech, the guys that have been turning Japanese cars GTR's and what not and I think am gonna talk to them about maybe a custom map to see what they can do...their 3 GTR's ran 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7 the middle being a customer car and the customer was driving it too...

You should not be redlining it. Power starts to drop off around 6300-6500 rpms or so so shifting earlier will keep you in the zone longer.

Depends on your mods and your tune...read up on mr. 5's explanation of this. You are GENERALLY correct, but first gear you can take to redline, 2nd a little less, 3rd a little less...etc.

EDIT: If you are FBO w/meth I would look at the Procede...but if you are set on those 2 I cant really lend too much advice as I know very little about GIAC. But you wouldnt get the JB3 anyway...it will be the new G4 version as soon as terry gets everything ready. From what Ive read it has a lot of new features. Good luck OP

your problem is you are running Map 7 which is anywhere from 14.5 - 15.5 psi boost. Those mid 11 runs you see are at 19-20psi boost. I bet you will be fairly deep into the 11's even on street tires if you cranked the boost.

edit - the GIAC stg2 is around 17psi boost. Just change to a higher map on the JB3 for the same results.

12.4@115 is great for map 7! It's a normal board or 18 ohm? I'd at least go up to 8 or 9 if you're on race gas.

It allows you to run more boost on the top end IIRC.

Email sent The 12ohm board is an extreme version of the JB3 which removes some of the hardware safety and lets you run and hold more boost. Production JB3s come with a 24ohm board.

I really appreciate everyone's input on this...see I ran Map 7 coz according to the spec sheet it gave higher boost than maps 6,5 or 4 and I didn't want to run map 8 at the track just coz I didn't want to have any problems (due to the fact that Map 7 throws some fault codes ) and 1/2 engine light on the dash board and the car looses power which I am guessing is partially having to do with hpfp failure arround the corner, I have yet to have one replaced yet and I got 37000miles.
Anyways, Which map do yopu guys recommend to run on all of my mods ?? to allow me to go to 17, 18 or even 19 PSI??? and do I have to go with a custom map to get that high or what?

Thanks again guys,

Thanks again guys,
You track you car w/o a second oil cooler?? Are we talking drap strip or actual road race track? I think you are referring to limp mode bc of the high oil temps. I would cut this stuff out until you get a second oil cooler bc it sounds like you car is going into limp mode in order to save the engine from overheating...

Thanks again guys,
bigger meth nozzle, higher meth concentration, a failsafe if you don't have one. you don't need anything else, you're fully modded.

Nobody has mentioned this yet...but how are you safely run Meth with GAIC Stage 2? They don't have any meth controls/fail safe at this time right?

At least with the piggyback, like Procede etc..you have Meth controls/fail safe etc...so if for some reason the meth fails..you don't go kaboom and flatten your piston/rings.

Input?
