I am considering the 20% discount on offer...

from Dinan. Offer for the ecu upgrade ends December 31st 2010. Net HP gains (for those unaware) are 95hp (495hp) and 123 lb/ft (573 lb/ft torque). Xdrive models excluded for now. Also according to the Dinan rep in the unfortunate event that warranty work is required, when dealing with an authorized dealer the warranty process is transparent (i.e. no money out of pocket to wait to be reimbursed). Although as we all know if something should arise there will most asuredly be some back n' forth between the dealer and Dinan for responsiblity.

Word is the TTV8 is conservatively tuned, and the increase in boost is well within the tolerance limits without having to go to a bigger intercooler and/or radiator, oil pump.

If i should move forward to carryout the software upgrade it will be performed at Braman BMW West Palm Beach, FL an authorized Dinan Center.

I still will retain the sleeper look, I may ditch the runflats for conventional High Performance tires and a mobility kit.

Decisions, Decisions

Enjoyment in the form of extra thrust and diesel engine like torque. LOL!

I was going to do it today but Dinan has not completed the coding for the GT, as it is different from the F10 sedan. The rep thought I had an F10. Apparently each car has a unique coding algorithim i.e. 750i code is different than 750 li. Dinan states that they should be done within a day or so. I guess I may end up being the first GT with the Dinan ECU upgrade.

Yes for now. But I am 100% sure they are working on something for the N55 engine which your car has.

Dinan just listed the F07 on their website. I am going to go ahead with it on Monday - can't wait.
I realize there are other/cheaper options out there, but the warranty coverage is incentive enough to go with Dinan.

Finally, Dinan Stage 1 reflash done. Guys if you want a bit, make that "Quite a Bit" more power, go for the reflash. Do it before the 31st and take advantage of the savings (roughly $600.00). You can "definitely" feel the difference. I suggest you leave DTC engaged

The one thing i didn't do was dyno to get a baseline before/after comparison. I know the car pretty well and it's definitely more than just a subtle increase

Dinan has also extended the discount through Jan 31, 2010 purportedly due to demand

after waiting for 2.5hrs at the dealer, the service adviser tells me they "don't have the wire" to connect to the new OBII plug DINAN provided them. he added they spent all this time trying to get the older plug to communicate with my car, but it didn't work...
needless to say, i will be re-doing the dyno runs once the dealer is finally prepared.

till then:
1- best baseline hp #s were produced in 5th gear!
2- highest hp # was 323hp. consistent #s between 321-323hp range produced for all pulls. (meets my expectation of 20% loss from 400 crank hp)
3- tuner shop owner was impressed with the consistency, as air boxes are located right above the turbos. he was concerned about heat soak.

Dude I feel you! I went through the same thing! But waited even longer! Even after Dinan FedExed the appropriate ethernet cable overnight. They still couldnt figure out the appropriate connection via the Dinan supplied laptop. They apologized and said that the next time they would want me to leave the vehicle instead of waiting. Oh really - okay.. So the next day I went to another authorized Dinan shop, after some slight configuration delays - they along with the Dinan Engineers got me done.. Like I said you don't know its there until you provoke it 4th gear in manual pulls like a locomotive.

BTW: I do wonder how the 750i Edmunds dyno'd produced something like 390 rwhp -stock

I'm not big on #s. Main reason i'm doing the dyno runs is to have a #s reference if something should go wrong in the future.
Also, i am using a Dyno Dynamics load-bearing dyno. It is known to give lower (and some say truer) #s than say dynojet and dynapacks. This, i believe, is shown in the consistent #s range from the pulls - (which fall within the estimated 20% loss from quoted crank hp)

this is where I am having it done:
http://www.gocpt.com/dyno.php

I just finished talking with the DINAN rep. He will be talking directly with the dealer to correct any installation errors they have, prior to my arriving for the upgrade. Dinan has great customer support!

Yep the Dinan folks are great! I think you and I will be in the minority there are a slew of E71"s, F01/F02, andF10's with the reflashes. I have not heard of anyone other than you and I with F07's getting it done at least so far

Avus your a genius! I've been dying for someone to do a dyno before and after of the Dinan install. I was supposed to get my 550I on the 12th of this month but BMW screwed up and now I wont get it till february. I had already scheduled the install and was planning on doing a before and after but I'm glad to see someone beat me to it. I hope you post the results soon I'm dying to see the difference. And your right on a Dynojet you would have gotten a significantly higher number but its irrelevant. All we care about is seeing the increase in power on the same machine. Great job and how about posting the chart?

I am hoping on Monday DINAN can rectify any errors the dealer has with the installation process. Thus, I'll schedule the dyno and software upgrade for Wednesday.
Once complete, I'll post up all #s and graphs.
