DME Code 12542: Exhaust fume turbo charger, high pressure side at high altitude???
So I took the car up into the mountains for a snowboarding trip this weekend. In a 200 mile trip I got a 12542 code for Exhaust fume turbo charger, high pressure side 4 times!
It would also then throw a 12544 boost deactivation limp mode. I had to pull off I-70 in the mountains, pull out my computer, clear the codes, and drive again. Here's the odd thing. All 4 times it happened at the highest altitude parts of the trip. 3 near the Eisenhower tunnel at over 10,500 feet I would guess, and one near the top of Vail pass at about the same. The car ran fine otherwise at all lower elevations. Any ideas what would trigger this? I don't want to be scared to take the car up there, but if I didn't have my laptop I would have been in limp mode all the way back to Denver. Mods are: AR designs oil cooler AMS front mount intercooler AFE intake Borla exhaust with catless race pipes Vishnu Procede V4 w/ Autotune |

A little more info. Apparently this code is usually triggered from overboosting, but literally all 4 times it occurred I was barely even on the throttle, I don't believe I was even registering ANY boost or at least very little (under 5 psi). I was, however, going uphill in all 4 cases, and as I said they were all at very high elevation.
Hopefully Shiv will see this - seems like some odd, high altitude issue. |

I've seen this before but I forget what the solution was... I just remember it seemed very simple. Sorry I can't help but hopefully the fact that I believe its a simple fix should be comforting. If I remember right, you got something on backwards.

Hmmm....I don't believe there is a lagfix on/off setting on my Procede. The weird thing is that these all happened at very low boost / low throttle. I suppose it still has a target at that point though.

"barometric offset" is the setting you would turn on to compensate for high altitude. However shouldn't really need to set this to 1 with autotuning.
