changing engine oil for improved performance....???

Ive now covered nearly 600 miles in my new E90, ive switched from Shell V Power to Tescos 99 RON after the report i read on this website (www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk)

Question now is.... It is worth looking into changing the oil for higher performance graded oil to get the best out of my engine?

What oil do BMW use?
Whats the best?
Has anyone else done this?

Many thanks
Lee

Great article on the fuel. Its here if anyone couldn't find it: http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/c...ull-290806.pdf

I've been using Tesco 99 RON for about six months now. It really does give a noticebale improvement in performance AND economy believe it or not!

I had an oil change recently and I think the dealer used Mobil 1.

thanks beauforty, ive read though all that report (which is very good). Ive filled my car up with tescos 99 earlier, ill proberly give it 3 tanks on the T99 and then 3 tanks on Shells Optimax to see the difference...

That test however does not test V Power, its Optimax...

I though that T99 is part ethanol to get the higher RON rating where as the V Power is more 'pure' (if thats the right word)

Trying to find technical data on the V Power is impossible so ill use T99 until i hear otherwise.

regarding Oil, Im reserching to whats the highest grade you can buy and ill be tempted to change the oil after 2000 miles once the car is fully run in, so as to clean out any 'running-in' deposits in the engine.
