I and others I'm sure, would like to hear about the cream of the crop of independent BMW specialists in uk ,based on experience.
The stealers nickname is no coincidence. I have decided to keep my motor long term and sod the dealers stamp. So I will kick off with bryn motoworks in Swansea....

When I took it in, I requested brake pads (stealers advice on last service), fog light repair, oil service, and to fix the petrol leak that failed the mot. Quotes from stealers were well over £500 just to fix the petrol leak. (The petrol leak issue, meant the petrol tank has to be removed and pipes replaced which is 2-3 hrs labour.)

It turns out the brakes didn't need doing, they did the fog light, petrol leak repair and oil service and also diagnosed and repaired an oil gauge issue, and poor power in the windscreen washers, which I had noticed, but didn't mention when I took it in. ( both not charged for)

They explained everything face to face, mechanic to customer is their way. Change brake pads in 10000 miles was their advice, they could have easily stung me for a few hundred as I requested a change of brake pads, but told me the truth. No sales pressure to do it with them.

I rang the local stealers to get a quote for the work they had done, just out of curiosity and nothing in 3 figures. The cost to me was 419 quid which I was very happy to pay.

Bryn motor works Swansea. It's a bit rough, but they do their best to ensure that your car is thoroughly checked over and do the odd bits for free. No sales pressure, just BMW trained mechanics, with decades of experience.

It literally is chalk and cheese compared to sytners in Cardiff( avoid like the plague) and trainers in Swansea.
