Hi folks,

I've an 07 335d... this option doesn't appear on my iDrive, I assume it's expired...

Is it possible to get it back into life... how much does it cost... and is it worthwhile... what can you do with the online stuff ??

Once the car is over three years old you have to pay for it. I think you can sign up online view the BMW website in the Owner area. Don't know how much it is though.

I don't really use the online stuff in the car much - you can read news/rss feeds and google local places
But the ability to send destinations to the nav from Google maps and iphone is priceless. Mine hasn't expired yet but I suspect I'll pay for the renewal at 3 years old just to keep that feature.

It's £120 per year and for in car google search facility it must be enabled in your car, otherwise its just texts and google maps.

I haven't managed to do it from my iPhone. Which app do you use?

Just downloaded it and locked and unlocked my car from my iPhone..........technology is scary!

Yeah, its a great little app. The map search is a bit wierd though, I always have to zoom the map right out to make it find what I am looking for. I know its 'local search' but 99% of the time, things I'm putting in the sat nav are not within 5 miles of my current position.
The send function works great though.

Not quite correct. I got three years free on mine and it was three years old but only because previous owner never registred for it. So it is three years from point of registration but to be honest I have never had the need to use it

Just tried it again and got the message security settings not confirmed. I read the app instructions again and it states to go to BMW Connect then to security settings and enable mobile device. I do not have that on my account so can only presume it does not work on a 2007 car. Unless some of you can tell me different

That app only works for cars build 2008 or later, I have a 2007 335i with the connected drive option and haven't bothered subscribing to it as i'm not really sure what it will do? Just be able to send google map locations from comp? Or can I go on some sort of net based service for things like weather, news etc?

No one at the dealer had a clue what it did either when I bought my car
