I believe its the way BMW allocates training and advertising fees to the dealerships, and that the values vary by region/dealership. You can try negotiating for dealer to pay this, but I believe most consider the fees part of the invoice for negotiation purposes.

I'm not sure if I paid it or not.

My "invoice price" was from Edmunds and I specifically asked about the "training" and "advertising" fees and my dealer said that they were already in the amount that we agreed as invoice. Obviously, the key is what your starting point for invoice is. I'd compare it to what Edmunds says it is, and if they agree you may want to ask your dealer about this. My deal was $1k UNDER invoice including the $1,500 Holiday cash deal, so my dealer is telling me that he made $500, of which the CA got $200 on a special order.

Dealer also gets 2% holdback from BMW. That's $1000 on a $50k invoice.

Don't think BMW dealers are willing to make only $500 on a new car sale.

Thanks JZWU.

Kind of suspected that there was a holdback or CSI payment, but couldn't confirm it. So it seems that my dealer covered the advertising and training fees out of his holdback. Assuming that the holdback is on the invoice and not the MSRP, that would put his profit at $500 (stated) + $1380 (holdback) - $380 (regional advertising fee) - $200 (training fee) = $1300, or $1500 from BMWUSA and -$200 from me. Give $200 to the CA - i.e., assuming that part is true, and the dealership makes $1100.

Frankly, I don't have a problem with that. Dealers have overhead and need to make a reasonable profit. Some might think that $1100 is a lot of money for simply ordering a car, but I imagine that it costs a few bucks to keep the heat on at the dealership. Where I have a problem is with a dealer making $6000 for ordering a car which was the first offer that I got.

i definitely did not see this fee on my invoice. I'm sure they some how managed to cram it in there without me realizing though.

Thumbs down BS Fee....!!

This is just a BS Fee to obtain higher profits to line their pockets with.........!! Don't fall for it and demand that it be removed because there are more BMW dealers in the sea..

Even if you get it removed believe me that you are paying for it one way or another, most dealers are pretty shrewd.
