Gas Pump Question

Had a debate over this with a friend. If you pull up to a gas pump that uses a single hose for the low/mid/high grade fuel, are you getting the gas you are paying for? Lets say you pull up to the pump and pump 5 gallons of 92 into your car. Is the first 2 gallons in the pump/hose the 87 octane that the guy in front of you just purchased?
My buddy will not fill up his crotch rocket from a gas pump that does not have a dedicated hose for each grade of gas. He said if he pumps a couple gallons into his bike that most of it will not be the grade of gas for which he is paying for because of the volume of gas that is left in the pump/hose from the previous person that filled up. I thought this was kind of interesting.
I dont think it makes that much of a difference.

the fuel you get is actually just a mix of different octanes.

including the highest octane. so doesn't matter if its single pump, just depends on how the gas station is set up.

volume of gas in the hose is negligible, they can't do much about it anyways

assuming a ten foot hose with a one inch diameter, volume of gas in the hose is about 94 cubic inches or .41 gallons. In a car I would say that's negligible. A bike has a smaller tank, but still, not a big deal IMO

LOL thought about this before and just today when i filled up. But came to the conclusion the amount of gas in the hose from the last usage wont matter

I am not very worried about the price of the gas that I think I am buying, but I am about the octane gas that I think I am getting.
