Latest DVD Sat disc?
Afternoon Peoples,
I have searched the forum and cant seem to find the answer im looking for so here goes (cue link posts lol). My E92 is a 2007 with Pro Sat Nav. It has the Sat Nav disc issued from factory (in 2007) however is there a more recent better Disc out there i can get which shows me speed camera's and has europe? I see a few threads with links such as this one... http://www.bmw-maps.co.uk/ Does it not matter if its not from BMW as it looks like this website was made in a bedroom? is the quality the same or better? Any help would be awesomely appreciated. Cheers, Ad |

There are later versions but I'm not sure whether there are any compatability issues with various idrives from certain years.
I know someone who got a disc from these chaps and says it's great but think it's in his E46 (if nothing else it give these guys some credibility as they do all look dodgy to me!!); I keep meaning to get on for the X3... http://www.bmwnavi.co.uk/ |

I used this guy for a new disc for our 130i fitted with 1st generation professional sat nav.
map-man@hotmail.co.uk The disc was sent through promptly and cost £30 including delivery. In terms of 'features' it seems no different to the original disc that came with the car and certaily doesn't feature the promised enhanced 3d display or speed cameras. Also the post code search is no better than on the original and not a patch on a basic Garmin. However, the maps are up to date as they include some recent new roads in my area not on the original disc. On balanace, worth the £30 it cost instead of the rip-off price BMW want, but don't expect too much. |

Had a couple. Works 100% and no issues at all after 9months in the drive. Steve

Thanks for all the replies... The car went in the other day for my alpine upgrade to be fixed as one the of the speakers keeps cutting out intermittently and they said for £200 they will upgrade my software to the latest version with the latest satnav disc (2011)??
Is this worth it over any of the above suggestions do you reckon? |

As per my earlier post, we have bought a disc for our 130i with the ‘old’ i-drive.
However, we have just bought an 18 month old 330d which has the recent version of the Professional Nav system with a hard drive. I don’t take delivery until Thursday so have not had a chance to play with it so don’t know how it fares against the old 2007 system. Following the above web links, it would appear that ‘cheap’ discs are not available for these hard drive systems. As its only 18 months old, I’m not too bothered to update it at the moment, although a 2011 version with decent 7 digit post code search would be appreciated. Am I stuck with giving a dealer £200 (or whatever)? |

You can't do it that simply.
You'll need to know how to use Newsgroups, have a NG reader and a way of locating the files like Newsbin. You may be lucky and find something via 'piratebay'. But anything else is to be avoided. Assuming of course you already also have a dual layer DVD writer and some discs...

2011 is now 3 discs (Eastern, Central and Western Europa), each of which is a conventional single-layer DVD, so one wouldn't require dual-layer discs if one wished to do this
