N55 Engine Malfunction Light

Saturday I received and installed the JB3 for my 2011 N55 335i. Thing rocks! Drove it all Saturday and Sunday with no problems. Last night I went out for a spin on some back roads, was driving normally (below 3-4k until engine warmed up) and suddenly I got the half engine icon and a warning of an engine malfunction. I pulled into a parking lot, shut the car off, waited 15 seconds and started it up again. The icon was there again for about 5 seconds and then went away. I kept driving for about 10 miles, car ran fine, and pulled strong like nothing happened. Could this be a ecu glitch caused by the JB3, or is this how HPFP failures sometimes begin. No long cranks yet. Shes only got 2800 miles on her!

same thing happened to me and another forum member. I also have the jb3 for my 2011 e92 335xi. I took it in too Helix and had the codes read. Had 2 hidden tuning codes plus 5 other codes. They took the jb3 drove for a week and didn't get any codes. We updated the firmware and I havent had a problem since. Been about 3 weeks. Email terry and get the firmware update. Update the jb3 software and you should be good to go!

Did you get the BT Tool, or you cheapened out on that one too? If you did, you could scan the DME and see if there are any stored codes which could tell you what was the CEL that you saw...

I did not get the bt tool, I am waiting for the JB4 upgrade which will have its functionality built in. I figured since im only at 2800 miles I wont need to bring it in for scheduled maintenance for another 5-6 months by which time I should have the JB4 to clear any codes. I will email Terry and check about the firmware update. Thanks!
