Question Hood painting

Hey guys, sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum.

The hood on my E90 has some gnarly dings that I need fixed/painted. What can I expect to pay for a complete hood paint job? Is there anyway you can get your insurance company to foot the bill?

Thanks for the space!

Sure your insurance will pay for it, it'll just increase your rates. Find a good shop to do it. Min 250-500. Wait till after winter IMO.

Insurance is actually picky about multiple dings. Technically you have to pay your deductible for each incident. So if you have 4 dings then they will say it is 4 incidents therefore likely exceeding the cost of getting it done yourself. You are looking at a minimum of 600 to get the hood repainted. Expect them to want to blend it with the fenders which will drive it up to 1 grand plus.

Daaaaaaaaamn! Ok, here's a thought. What do most aftermarket hoods go for? I have a black car and the thought of having a flat black hood is kind of appealing. Amirite?

That won't hide dings unless you layer the vinyl upon layer, upon layer, upon layer.....
