Blackberry stereo gateway - works with iphone

Just thought I share with the forum that I purchased the blackberry stereo gateway a couple of days ago and works seamlessly! Sound is great, doesn't drain much battery life on the phone either. It hooks up to the auxiliary and streams music via Bluetooth. Also stays connected to about 25 feet. Pairs automatically and turns off and on with the car. It's very compact that you can put almost anywhere.
This way you don't need to hook your phone up with any annoying cables unless you need to charge of course. All you need to buy extra is a extra cable to hook up via USB to a car charger. I bought a car charger that has 2 USB inputs that come out the side of the charge instead of the top so that it fits nice in the center compartment without hitting the door of the compartment.
By the way I have an iPhone 3GS.
I even got one for the house too.
The only problem I ran into was the pairing password. The instructions say to put 00000 but that didn't work so I tried 0000 and that worked. I'll post up some pictures if anyone requests.

This is old news. I've been using the BB stereo gateway for a year or 2 now....I find my iPhone battery drains very quickly with bluetooth activated though.

Did you experience any distortions? I don't know if I got a defective gateway which I ended up returning. I also paired it with an iphone 3GS. There were distortions and the transmission would break up for appx 1 sec intermittently.

My unit sometimes got like that.....but if I turned off bluetooth on my iPhone and then reconected, the skipping went away.

Yeah I know it's probably old news but new to me. Sometimes people don't read every single thread and thought I put it up there.
As to the distortion, it hasn't happened to me yet. Sounds good in my car and home.

Old news or not thank you for posting!
I am going to look at this option next. What I really want it steering wheel controls with my Ipod/Iphone but that seems to be on the $$$ side of things...

Just as an added message, My girlfriend also has an Iphone and she got the skipping issue when using the bb gateway. It was then when I noticed she had an older software version on her Iphone. She updated it and it works flawlessly like mine.

Would be nice if you could post up some pics to show us what you're describing (wrt the installation). I wonder if this would work when the phone is in the cradle (6FL). I've been wondering about BT streaming as I get to like Pandora more and more, this might be the simplest way to get there.

Bluetooth is bluetooth, doesn't matter what the label says on the outside.

picked one up on eBay for $20 shipped and have been loving it - a great solution for those without the iPod interface.

Yes you can have your phone both connected to the car and the gateway. I have an iPhone4 and when I'm playing music thru the gateway and I receive a call, the music fades and the phone switches to the car's Bluetooth. It's very slick and OEM like.

I've used mine for about a month now. The only issue I have is that it skips whenever i have WiFi running on my phone. Once that is turned off, the skipping seems to go away.

Another issue (possibly phone related) is that whenever I receive a call through my car and end the call, the music would continue to play but no sound would come out through the bb gateway. I would always have to unpair and repair the phone.

i to have it for a couple of months and i'm proud to say i haven't had any problems with it thus far. i bought it off of ebay and it works like a charm. i use it everytime i jump into my car, because all i listen to is pandora from my iphone 4. also i have to admit it is pretty slick how it swithces between my car's oem bluetooth when a call is being place/recieved and the gateway.

Never mind, found one. Here is what I did:

- Ordered the Blackberry Bluetooth Stereo Gateway ($33.99 at Buy.com)
- Bought a Rocketfish flush mount usb car adapter (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketfi...rger&cp=1&lp=6)
- Used usb-to-mini adapter that came with my Blackberry Bold to power the stereo gateway

The flush mount usb car adapter guaranteed I could hide the whole set up under my center armrest. I was able to pair the stereo gateway with my BB Bold and an iPhone 3gs. Played both through the stereo just fine. Bonus: With the gateway paired and playing the iPhone catalog, I was still able to use the BMW BT to make calls on the Blackberry. Nice!! No more ugly wires strewn about the place.
