M3 Sedan Question
Hi Guys,
I am pretty much sold on buying a 335i sedan with steptronic transmission in the next 2 months. But I saw m3post forums and found out bmw is going to release a kickass m3 sedan WITH 400 horses. I was just wondering if this m3 sedan is gonna have an automatic transmission or just 7 speed manual? Thanks |

It will for sure have an automatic transmission and most likely a 6 speed manual. They're not going to release a car with just manual transmission.

Most likely, a 7spd SMG and 6spd Manual.

Jason I'm not saying your wrong but if its a full automatic that he's looking your post may be a little desieving....the M3 will have a SMG that can be put into D-Mode (automatic) but d-mode is more jerky your not going to be completely happy if your driving it all the time in Dmode (or maybe you will) & as you mention it'll also be available in Manual remember Steptronic is not SMG... |

I am not exactly looking for BMW to provide a complete automatic in m3 sedan.
I was just making sure if they will provide steptronic like the 335i and other 3 series models, so I can swtich between automatic and +/- gear changes. |

then you should buy the 335i b/c the M3 will not be Steptronic.....I'm not sure if you just have your words mixed up ie. Steptronic/SMG but what you are looking for is exactly what the SMG does you can switch into D-Mode or be in SMG (which the car is designed for & is a full manual but w/out the clutch) only thing is that if you forget to shift it won't automatically shift for you when your in SMG mode so you'll be bouncing off the rev limiter if your spaced out...

SMG in automatic mode
SMG in automatic mode can be quite smooth, you just have to learn how to drive it. A small let up on the throttle does wonders for smoothness. A small habit to learn/adapt for the huge number of benefits of SMG.
