iphone/ipod connection

don't smash me too hard for this, but i bought an aux cable from bestbuy. it works perfectly fine, audio wise, but it doesn't show the track name on the screen and i can't control it from the steering wheel. any way to get around this?

does your car come with ipod integration (usb port)? you need the actual ipod integration in order to fully control it.

Shoot. I don't think it has a USB port. It has the logic 7 and all that. And just a aux port in the arm rest

You again J...sheesh do the questions ever end?

So yeah, you need the usb port, Im sure you can have one put in, ok, Im almost sure, when you do, do NOT let them talk you into buying the $70 BMW ipod cable, I just bought mine for $14 bucks, was a bit skeptical considering the price, but it works like a champ, and no, the USB cable that came with your IPOD will not work. Im too lazy right now to go out to the garage to see where I got the cable from, but I will in a bit and pm you. Oh BTW does your car have iDrive?

I'm in the same boat as you, I did lots of research on adding the iPod retro kit from BMW, there is complaints that it's small moving threw menus on the stereo side. I just bought a $35 blackberry Bluetooth adapter and just switch everything on my iPhone, sounds great too.
