Statutory exhaust inspection?

Hi,

My car has just announced it needs a "statutory exhaust inspection".

Any idea what that is, and what it's likely to set me back?

It's due a MOT before March.

Car details in sig if reqd.

'Statutory inspection' is the MOT. Is it possible the MOT reminder is set wrong? Your sig says you've got iDrive - if you go into the service info menu, is it the one with a broken S-shape logo that's due? If so, that's the MOT reminder.

Hi,

There's another one for the MOT set for 1st March, think that's the 'Statutory Vehicle Inspection' - this is different.

This is from the iDrive screen, yep.

Oh, ok. That's odd then. There's a statutory emissions test required in Germany that's separate from their equivalent to the MOT, but there's no such thing in the UK. I'd call the dealer to find out what it's about. I guess it's possible the car's locale is misconfigured and it thinks it's in Germany...

you can reset the reminder until the date of your MOT, just scroll through the service menu while the car idles and when you get to the icon showing the car with the interlocked S's at the exhaust hold in the BC button till it gives you the option to enter the date of your emissions test
