CD/DVD Changer Standard?

Just got my brand new 550i GT xdrive on Friday. LOVE IT! ...though having a heck of a time trying to find just the right seat adjustment...too many options!

I was reading the manual and got to the section on how to work the CD/DVD changer that is located in the glove box. This morning I went to take a look at it and I don't have one. Is this not a standard feature? I have the premium sound package, comfort package, smart phone integration...everything I would assume includes a CD/DVD changer. Went to the BMW website and I don't even see a CD/DVD changer as an option to include. Seems odd that a car of this caliber would not come standard with this feature. My Honda Odyssey was a little less than half the cost and it came standard...

Thanks in advance for the help!

The cd/dvd changer is in the dash.
There is now a hard drive in your car that you can upload & store your music collection.
The nav software is now stored on the hard drive not on disc as used to be.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply sirees01! That helps. So to confirm, there is no longer the option of loading multiple disks because of the hard drive or I still can, it's just through the slot in the dash now?

On my 650i, the changer is in the dash, and you can load up to 5 or 6 discs through the slot (one at a time). I've never really used it since all my music is on my (attached) iPod. I assume the newer models work the same, since mine is 3 years old.

you just pop your disc in and the stereo gives you an option to copy it to the hard drive - this then appears as an imported disc in the 'music collection' (listed with CD, Radio, external devices etc. This way you can upload 6, 10, 30 discs, and is faster and simpler than selecting different discs, you can have more albums on tap, and you dont carry any discs or boxes in the car.

Don't think of it as not having what your honda did, think of it as a superior level of technology than appears on any honda!

you can also refer to the owners manual that is installed in the iDrive system of your car, for the most current info on your model
