Just bought a new (used) weekend car
Have been on the market for couple months, finally bought a 2003 used SL500 at mid 20s. It does look nice, comes with sport package any everything. 60k miles on it , in very good condition. I must say that the handling on this "sport convertible" feels like a Camry...302hp out of 5.0L , it drives slower then the 328i loaner i drove. Will upload the pics of it later...

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I've driven an E500 sport and a CLS500 with that same engine... it's not slow at all and definitely faster than my 328i!

Wow, German cars have no resale. I remember test driving it at a MB event around 2004 and it was a nice car. Pays to take care of Germans and keep them.

I think the SL is a GREAT weekend car
top down, luxury, brings good attention, has class. If you wanted a canyon type hard top, a used SLK would have been more fun. My mom's SLK would out handle my e93 335i (stock) no question due to it's shorter wheelbase and weight But wish I knew.. my uncle has a 04 with similar miles and I think he wants around mid 20s give or take for it congrats You'll get more attention in it than a '3 series' from the general public

I'm confused. I thought you said the SL was your new daily because you wanted to keep the miles down on your 335i and you drive 35K miles each year. How in the world is driving the SL on the weekends gonna help you keep miles down on the BMW?
