RFT v conventional!
May sound like a dumb question, but if I go from 'run-flats' to regular tyres, will it have any effect on the tyre pressure 'monitoring' system?
ps. how does the system work anyway?! Cheers AL |

No it wont as the TPMS works off the ABS sensor and calculates loss in pressure via that and wheel rotation I believe.
There is no actual tyre pressure sensor in the tyre or wheel so changing tyres makes no difference. Just make sure you reset the TPMS meter through the BC after you change. |

As said, works the same. To be a bit pedantic, BMW don't use the TPMS term anymore, as it is a bit misleading. Some folks have believed they would be informed when the pressures were low, due to the 'monitoring', therefore not even checking tyre pressures.
TPWS is used "Tyre Pressure Warning System", as it doesn't strictly monitor the pressure, calculates the deviation, (due to wheel rotational speeds), from the calibrated setting. HighlandPete |
