BMW drivers are idiots
Not really. But people with the wrong tires in this weather are. Commuting 40 miles for the past 2 hours during the peak snow of this storm, I saw 5 cars stuck. 3 of them were BMW's. On the whitestone bridge, both lanes blocked by idiots running summer tires. Unfortunately they had to be BMWs. e46, and an e90 335. Clearly running summer tires. In the middle of the LIE there was a 750Li stuck. Probably on worn all seasons.
When will people learn...The media doesn't do enough to educate people on this kind of stuff. |

Its not only that they arent educated ... but they are cheap asses ... Ive had SEVERAL cars come in this week, i warned them about the snow coming and how BAD and DANGEROUS their tires are... No one wants to spend the $$$.. then i get calls about Transmission failures due to getting stuck and revving out, and also fender benders due to shitty worn out tires... i mean seriously !!

I helped a guy outside my apartment last night get up a near by hill. The first thing I did was check his tires and he said "Ma tires are good, I just got them put on." Yea well you got tires for the wrong season. I was able to push him up the street...surprisingly. Don't know if he got home though.... |

Philly is full of jackasses guilty of this because people don't think it's worth the cost when we only get a few snow storms a year...but then they try to drive in it anyway. I cant count the number of cars (and trucks!) I safely blew by this morning on the way to work... I grew up in a place where snow tires were absolutely necessary. Yeah it kinda sucks to have to pony up for expensive RFT snow tires and a new set of summer rims if you don't want to keep swapping the tires, but that's the price of having a 335i and driving it safely. My favorite is people with "four wheel drive" and bald all-seasons.

out here in socal they're idiots for different reasons. where i'm at it's notorious for young kids to drive like they "own the road" in their parents bimmers or benzes. granted, i'm not much older than them, but i'm not a dipshit driver either.

In wake of all these jackass laws and fees that Mayor Scumberg imposes, there should be one stating cars wearing summer tires from December 31st to March 1st are illegal. I didn't want to pony up for tires either, but I doubt this is the last snowfall of the season, so I was forced to order a set of Continental DWS. I saw a 370Z and a 335i stuck yesterday on the Sprain Pkwy. Gee I wonder why!

BLIZZAK FTMFW!!!!!!!! I drove through about 4 unplowed blocks with about 4-5 inches of snow this morning on the way to work! I was really really scared but did not get stuck. The key is not to come to a complete stop and just keep your car rolling. Once you come to a complete stop that's when you will get stuck. But I must say my LM-25 snow shoes really impressed me today!

Best investment this year was $430 on a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3D tires. Havent let me down in the truck yet. I was going around people driving retarded on a 2 lane road...slow driver to the right, go around and another slow driver on the left. WTF.
I was up at 5 this morning to take the gf to work and around 6:30 or so, as I was driving around the neighborhood, I counted 19 cars where old people were getting into/driving like morons in a 5 block radius. I swear when it snows, they come out like termites from the woodwork, and just clog up the roads trying to do their morning routine. Stay in the house for a few hours dammit Now I need to just get a gas blower and start clearing my driveway/spot in front of my house instead of shoveling. Camber-Toe snow removal service anyone?? |

I think a lot of it is that folks want the 335 or M for the power and performance, but they fail to realize, if they live in areas that get snow, that owning and using the car also needs to include the price of winter tires. The 328s come with all season tires and, if daily driving is the purpose of the car, is likely the better choice.
To some extent, but not entirely, this error in judgment is pardonable when it's made by young (under 30) folks who just want BMWs for the fun/status/cool factor of it, for we know most such folks aren't ready to assume the full responsibility for their actions and are convinced of their omniscience. Among full fledged, mature adults, it's unpardonable. That one would deliberately drive a car unsuited to the road conditions and then get stuck, impeding or increasing the risks for untold numbers of other drivers, is very selfish and irresponsible. I and my sports car driving peers keep another vehicle for driving in inclement weather and we generally leave our summer tires on our sports cars (or sportier, if not truly sports cars). Not everyone can afford to do that, but having a second set of tires (if not wheels and tires) should surely be within reach of anyone who's found the greenbacks to buy a BMW. If not, perhaps selling the BMW and buying something more economically appropriate would be the right choice.

You dont even need to go through all the trouble of mount/unmount part Get dedicated set of wheels You get 2-3 winters out of them and you save milage on summer setup Plus you dont have to worry about your nice summer wheels being beatup in winter P.S. Totally agree with OP either get snows or dont leave you f..king house |

I have snow tires on mine. No F-150s rolling by me........that is until the reality of ground clearance sets in. Snow tires really should be mandatory. Although, they made cleaning the snow off your f-ing car mandatory and that doesnt seem to do jack. Why is it people cant process that when you get going about 45-50, all that snow and ice you were too f-ing lazy to get off your car, flies off and hits my car....

Here it IS actually against the law to drive with snow still on your roof. Although cops enforce it like not using your turn signal or talking on the phone. I dodged a huge sheet that flew off a van once, but the person behind me wasnt so lucky. They got the full brunt of the impact, part of which was solid ice that flew off...it cracked the guys windshield hardcore. I managed to get the license plate to give to the person so he could file a report (the state troopers showed up). You get hit with a pretty big fine if you do get caught tho.... |

:Because there not the ones its blowing off onto... I hate those fucking people along with the idiots who dnt get snow tires and block the road... (although I was one of them last year. Learned my lesson after having to pull a shovel out on i87 every 5 feet to dig myself out lol) Btw that's not a good feeling with 18wheelers flying passed you... Crotch was wet when I got back in the car from the snow...

People need to stop being cheap or leave there cars at home.
I was driving down southern state parkway last night and I think I was the only car passing everyone, 740 in front of my was fish tailing so much I was afraid that when I would pass him he would hit me but I finally got around him. I used my g35 coupe with blizzaks this snow storm and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Not going to use my 335xi this winter, but for next winter I want to see how its going to do with Blizzaks. |

I think its better when people in there luxury SUV's turn the knob to the snow flake/snow mode, and they think they are invincible now! My friend did that in his moms Range Rover to pick me up one snowy day he was dead serious too
