Talking Car MUCH faster after software update

So every since I got my 07 335i last June it always ran OK, seemed little slower than other 335's. I put a JB+ on it and DCI and those helped a little but nothing crazy. Past couple months I got the half light engine every week and was misfiring on every cylinder, car was running like complete poo, wasn't fast at all. So finally when my sunroof motor went I finally took it in stock and they performed the new software update in which I made sure to mention I do not want the update that causes the car to run slower becasue of wastegate rattle or whatever. My tech said no it will not do that...so I get the car back after they said the reflash will cure the misfirings and WOW it is sooooo much faster stock! Then I put the JB+ back on at 100% and OMG the car feels like a new machine! THEN I put the DCI back on and it felt like i gained 20 whp just from that! (I know I didnt but felt like it) I mean the car is breakin loose in 2nd at like 40 when i could barely get it to break loose in 1st before! And i decided to leave the cowl (put HVAC filter back on) off after the intake install and that is the most intoxicating sound I have ever heard, I can hear the turbos over the music! And it also sounds like I have a aftermarket blowoff. Just wanted to update you guys that are scared to get an update...it really feels like i gained at least 40 whp when combining the software update with the JB+/DCI from my very accurate butt dyno

Thanks...I plan on going JB4 or Cobb very soon..still waiting to read more reviews on Cobb...seems JB4 users are in love. Not sure if I want that super smoothness that Cobb has since the car won't "feel" as fast is what I gathered from reading the reviews..

So you discovered that intoxicating noise too? I ran the car without that "cowl" while I was diagnosing misfires and its pretty amazing how much noise the cowl filters out. Has anyone else run without the cowl for extended periods of time? I'm worried about the cables that run in the carrier as well as the HVAC filter being unsupported. But man, that noise is amazing.

Let me know when and I am there!

Jay I did some research with running without the cowl and I read some people pressure washed car without it and inspected turbos and could find anything (also read water can trickle on turbos but no one has ever experienced this). Terry has been running without cowl for years, ect. I think as long as you bolt the HVAC assembly backup you will be fine (A/C still works). Thing i am worried about are the sensors kinda just chillen there...

Yeah I forgot about the sensors too. Are people just tie wrapping them to something (what are they even for)? I've thought about modifying it (possibly drilling some holes in it or removing the weather stripping).

hmmm really after the software update you weren't misfiring anymore? The last two times i've put my jb+ in the car's half engine light comes on and then my coils get misfires, should i try again with the new software?

your car was that messed up and it took your sunroof motor to go out before you took her in for service? seems like you care more about the sunroof than your motor

yep... i don't do road racing...not looking for quarter mile records.. all i want is the rush of power to impress me and the passenger. If the power only comes at full throttle even better because the wife wont notice that the car got more power!
