album art question for idrive

is there a setting? I can't seem to get album art to display like others I have seen on here I tried with 3G and iphone4 I have the iPod USB option...

How are you connecting the iPhones? Use the standard white cable that came with the iPhone.

Once connected there are two ways to view the album art. First, if you are viewing the iPod/iPhone on the main screen, a small version of the album art should appear in the upper right corner.

You can also push the iDrive knob to the right which will bring you to a menu for viewing options on the split screen. From there you select "Entertainment Details". Once a song starts to play, the Artist, Album and Song Title will appear on the right. It takes a few seconds but the album art should appear....

I am using the iPhone USB adapter that comes with the BMW it's the black "y" cable..

Yes, use the white cable. When was your car built? Must be a 9/10 or later build to view the album art.

white cable doesnt work :-/ doesn't read the iPhone when I use the apple white cable......

what could be wrong... hmmm

bummer, why would they start this up 2 months after my build, I hope BMW offers an upgrade for this and the connected drive...

Read up on the Sept '10 changes. BMW switched hardware to what is called the combox to handle the entertainment functions. That new hardware is what handles the album art...
