BMW Performance Exhaust just arrived!

My BMW PE system came today. Just got it installed at my local muffler shop that I always use and it sounds great. It's aggressive when you want it to be but you can keep it quiet if you want too. Love it. Will it go through a break in period and get a little louder? Overall very satisfied with the purchase

I ordered it from Tischer BMW online and had it shipped to me. I went to the dealer for a quote but they quotes me like 1800 which is retarded to pay. Plus the people at my Dealer looked at me like I was a moron when I asked for it. They drive me nuts anyway. But anyway Tischer had it for the bet price I was able to find.

I've found that mine has smoothed out over the past 1500 miles or so. After getting it I was on the fence about keeping it. I initially felt it was a bit harsh. But since its fully broken in now it's actually one of the things I enjoy the most about the car now. After the break in it sounds very classy but still aggressive.

I don't want to sound ignorant but I have to ask this.

The exhaust is a metal tube. What does everyone mean when they say it needs to be "broken in". There aren't any moving parts. How is a metal pipe carrying exhaust gas any different this month vs next month?

This is an honest question - not trying to flame anyone here. I'm torn between the Magnaflo and the BMW PE. I like the sound of both and also like the fact they're both full exhaust systems.

Thanks guys!

I'm also wondering why people say that there is a break in period??? I'm personally getting the eisenmann race exhaust. Just love how the revs can get racy at high revs and at low revs it sounds aggressive.

I'm assuming its due to the carbon buildups on any rough edges, welds, and whatnot,
I am not really sure though

A guy I work with, his family owns the shop and they do good work. Only charged 50 for install. I can't complain. Dealer wanted a couple hundred

the packing in the muffler changes a bit and changes sound.

Could also be the clamps slightly loosening up for some people, attributing to conflicting reports that it actually gets louder...

The muffler has material in it that changes. Mine didn't get louder, just "fuller" sounding if that makes sense.

At any rate I've had it for more than 10k miles and I love it.

Congrats, I love the sound in mine. The only thing I can say with mine (most others) is that the tips stick out too far on the sedan. I took mine back to the muffler shop to have the tips pulled in a tad. Looks perfect now. Post some pictures of yours.

Break in period is usually a coupe hundred miles. The process can take less time sometimes but ball park that around how long. LMK if u need help w/ eisenmann

I want to say on my car it took about 600 miles for the muffler to change pitch but ive heard that other systems take longer.

i asked the 'why a break in period' question several times, and never got any real answer. maybe its just placebo?

i dont feel like mine got louder but i definitely think after 1000 miles or a little more, it has smoothed out. not louder.

The BMW PE is not a full exhaust system. It's only an axle-back on the e92 and includes an X pipe on the e90

Just curious - does the BMWPE allow freer revs?

Also - would it still emit the same emissions as stock?
