I would say it is better shielded compared to the Injen. The plastic pipe is also a plus compared to the Injen aluminium pipe which is quite long, gets very hot and further heats the air.

Yeah, looks like a better product and is claiming better gains.. We will have to see how it goes after a few people have them though..

Looks good, I like the fact that they kept the stock air scoops... But does it close up top or stay open like that?

It looks like it stays open like that but seals against part of the underside of the hood and cool air is directed to it from the grille/scoops You can see the rubber strips across the top of the box to seal it.

This is like the Dual Cone N54 design where the top part is open but closed off when you lower the hood. It provides a seal across the top.

I would get the afe. Everything about this system is better then the Injen for sure. I was mentioning that the Injen was to expensive to me for what it was, and I could replicate the Injen setup for less then 1/2 the price. The afe even though its $50 more then the Injen, is more worth the price IMO for what you get. Still on the high side, but comparing the 2 @ similar price the afe is the better of the 2 hands down.

just an fyi, the power gains are likely coming from the MAF signal misreading airflow which increases the boost target. So the power is coming from higher boost pressures, not from a reduction in intake restriction. So if you already have a tune that runs more boost, you will not get an additive power bump as it will run too much boost.

The stock box/filter isn't measurably restrictive. Even with the turbo maxed out, running full bolt-on mods at 360whp. All you would be doing is sucking in hot air which is the last thing you want to do in this application.

Just my 2c,
shiv

so ur say'n that add'n an intake to the N55 doesn't make
sense with a tune.
ur call'n 360whp the max that the N55 has to give.
so more air is not gonna matter.

when are u gonna have the MAF tune'd for the N55?

Best way to clear this up is by doing a before and after dyno on a tuned car.
