Had a quick search but could not find anything...

My E91 is on around 75k miles and although I understand BMW say that it never needs changing I want to do it anyway. I have checked the Opie oils site and they do not list a gearbox oil for the 2007 320d (163hp) manual 'box.

Any suggestions for stuff you guys may have used?

I emailed Opie and got a very speedy answer advising the following...

We tend not to list BMW gear oils as they are quite fussy, the only two I'd usually recommend for your car are the Redline MTL and Fuchs Sintofluid. 2 bottles will be enough for the oil change.

If you are not getting the best changes, it may be best to do what a lot of other BMW owners do and use a mix of one of the oils I mentioned above and a suitable ATF, such as the Redline D4 or Fuchs ATF 5005. As the gearbox takes about a litre and a half, I'd use a whole bottle of one of the MTFs and then top it up with the ATF. It's not a guaranteed fix, but usually it's the answer for notchiness.

I'm going to go with the Redline MTL. Not sure about mixing with ATF even though they say it is ok - does anyone have experience with this?
