Cool low coolant level?

just got the orange symbol about the coolant level.

so question is what brand of coolant do i use?

its Sunday so not sure where i can get it from?

im due to go on a 100 mile round trip motorway journey, will this cause any probs if i dont do anything about the coolant?

regards

top it up with water (de-ionised some will say) for now. Then when it comes to service time get them to check concentration and top the concentration up as required.

Better to have the right amount of liquid rather than not just so you don't use anything but "coolant fluid" The coolant fluid just stops the water "eating" your pipes and stops it freezing in winter (which we will be coming out of).

I had the same problem when I first got my 320d. Just buy the coolant from BMW I think it was about £10. Mixed 50/50 with de-ionised water. All good now. The dip stick thing is a bit weird though!

Hi Adam,

We certainly would at my dealer and I would expect 19/20 of other dealers would too. Dealers aren't as bad as people make out sometimes, just go in and ask politely if someone could check your level as your not sure where it is.
