open air subwoofer
I was thinking about running an open air subwoofer system but don't know how to go about to doing it. What exactly would I need? I want to remove the rear seats and install 2 15" alpine type rs.

What is your goal? 2-15" subs may sound like a lot of bump but now when you try to implement an infinite baffle system, you lose a lot of that. IB applications are not known to do well if you just want to ground and pound. They are known to be dead on accurate in terms of SQ if done right. If you're looking to ground and pound, you'd probably be better off putting them in an sealed or vented enclosure depending on your space limitations.

Show off!
If you want more output, you'd be better off with the 2 sealed 12s than the 2 IB 15s.

TMR is correct. He has just showed you a IB system with 2 15s. The trunk becomes your sub box (no need for a sealed, vented, or band-pass sub box). It sounds like you need to go to your local car audio installation shop and educate yourself to the details. There's A LOT of work involved than just mounting & placing subs on MDF panel.

You ever heard of infinite baffle? 10s are way better for sound q 15s not so much
I had 2 subs in the rear deck. NO VIBRATION, uses the trunk as the enclosure. Make sure you get free air or subs that can be used infinite baffle. I had a 3/4" mdf baffle, lots of sound deadening, spray foam and suede |

10s are better than 15s for SQ ? Really ? Do you honestly believe that ? If so, I am sorry.

+1000 The person who designs the image subs prefers 15's for SQ over 10's, he is a good friend of mine and built my IB setup.

Correct me if I am wrong but none of the setups on this thread except tmr's are infinite baffle because they use the trunk as the box. It seems like tmr's even uses the trunk as a box as well the subs are just facing the other way sure they'd be infinite baffle if you open the trunk. Is it even possible to have a free air setup in a car because it doesn't seem like you get enough volume to consider it free air. I could be completely wrong here but just a thought.
