Brembo calipers on new 5.0 stained. Any ideas what can fix?
Took delivery of my car and noticed that the calipers had white drip lines down them. At first I believed it was just some water drips and could be cleaned quickly. However I tried Meguiars APC on a towel and rubbed with good pressure. Nothing. Then mag and aluminum polish. Nothing. Steel wool. ZERO. So is there anything anyone would suggest? Heres a pic of what they look like.

It was a dealer trade from out of state . I told my dealer not to prep the car at all and they didnt. I picked the car up last friday and got it for under invoice im sure theyre less then willing to do anything. So for right now the only thing ive used that masks this issue a bit is 303 aerospace protectant. But after 1 minute of the brakes getting any bit hot that is useless too.

Kevin@akmotorwerk- That's possible . But it is a brand new car so i don't see a reason they would have needed to do that. |

should be covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty I'd think. You're local dealer should be able to help (and they shouldn't mind helping as they'll get paid from Ford).

i don't think it is brake fluid. it does eat everything, but it doesn't eat metal or glass
Plus there is no reason to bleed on a brand new vehicle. It does look like an acidic wheel cleaner that has etched the metal. The calipers aren't painted because that affects their ability to get rid of heat. You could try using the same cleaner and wiping it away and then rinsing with water immediately, but there is obiviously a risk of increased etching. Scrub with baking soda? That works on garage floors with battery acid on them. |
