faulty actuators on 335i
When I had the car in the garage I asked them to check out an intermittent rattle.
The rattle was minimal but once I noticed it I was always aware of it. I thought it might be transmission based as if you dip the clutch it would stop for a few seconds. However the dealer has located the rattle as the actuators and says the car needs to be booked back in. If the actuators are not functioning correctly, will the turbos be ok? |

Do a search on it, very well posted on!
I had the same issue, my car was outside warranty and got both turbos replaced, BMW paid for all parts and 40 percent of labour. Cost me 1200 quid in the end. Not great but worthwhile doing just because as you say once u know, you are always aware of it!! |

The dealer said the turbos should be fine.
In hindsight I had actually been thinking the throttle response/lag was a little more noticeable in recent weeks. Glad I did mention it rather than brushing it off as a nothing rattle. I've only got a couple of months of warranty to go so hopefully everything that is needed is done now. Dealer will call when parts arrive and says he will need the car for 2 days. They gave me a nice 320d automatic today, so no real hardship. |

I had the wastegate actuators "adjusted" under warranty on my 1er. That rattle is horrible isnt it?! I'd forgotten about that. It was really noticeable when putting it in the garage or in multi-storey car parks.
It was like having a new car afterwards.

It was not that loud. The only time I really noticed it was sitting in the tunnel entrance to the flats carpark.
Driving the car today and whatever adjustment they have made temporarily has made the throttle unresponsive. The first quarter/half inch travel of the throttle does nothing now. Can't wait for the new parts to arrive. |

Put the car in on Monday and got it back on Thursday.
Instantly the car feels sharper and more responsive. However I also instantly noticed the tracking was out. Waited a few miles to allow the car to settle but it remained constant. Phoned back and the service department were not convinced how this could be the case. Turns out that parts of the suspension are removed to gain access. Something has gone wrong somewhere. |

Washing the car today, which I did days before it went to the dealer. I'm good at spotting marks and dings so most things are noticed. Today I've got a new very noticeable scratch on the front left wing. It's about 1.5 inches long 3-4 inches back from headlamp starting an inch above the flaired wheelarch then going directly down. Obviously whoever done it know they done it as they have made a piss poor attempt with using touch up paint to hide it. I know accidents happen but to damage it and know you have done it, you need to admit that and repair it properly. How they managed to test drive the car without noticing the tracking is out is beyond me. You have to hold the steering at about 3 degrees to the right to go straight. Once you let the wheel go it does return to a central position and the car then veers off to the left. Surely on a test drive that would be obvious? One other complaint was the radio reception was poor when the rear heated screen was on. The car was put in for investigation for a day, then they had it 4 days this week and it was only by the end they said a new rear screen was required. Now I have to wait a couple of weeks to get back in and get more work done. I'm fast losing confidence in John Clark in Aberdeen. |

Keep us updated. Typical dealer service from a BMW franchised dealer...

Every single dealer no matter what manufacturer, seem to be bad. I will be honest to admit I thought BMW would be better. I phoned in and reported the scratch and this service rep I've been dealing with said it would be looked at when the car returns. He said did not see any reason why the service manager would not authorise a repair in the bodyshop. Another job to the list and more inconvenience for me. They want the car for 2 days to replace the rear screen. The time to fit it and the time for the adhesive so bond. Hopefully they will get it all done in two days. That will only leave fighting the idiots who messed my wheels up and I should be 100% clear. |

When I got my car back from my local dealer after a leaky roof repair, I noticed a small dent in the rear roof pillar, so I took the car back from them to look at and they booked it straight in to their body shop to be fixed...no arguments, they seemed to automatically accept responsibilty, thank god.
