Real Estate Lulz

From recent RE listings on LA's Westside :

"560 lucero ave,pacific palisades, CA 90272
Area: (15) Pacific Palisades

MLS Number
10-497175

"SEVERE LAND PROBLEMS. APPROX. 1.5m TO REHAB. This property is distressed by active landslide movement. The Paseo Miramar Landslide enlarged into the property in 2005, within about 30 feet of the house. A 2007 survey showed the floor of the residence was tilted at least 7 inches down toward the landslide. From 2007 to 2010, cracking of the floor and walls has continued, with enlargement of cracks. Without extensive land stabilization, the residence will become unusable."

Price? ......That's the best part (scroll down)

Only .....$470K!!!!

So you too can have your own piece of sliding, slipping Southern California dream for almost half a million $$$$$$ ...which only cost another cool $1.5 mil to rehab!!

Oh man...

I can't imagine the permits involved before you are even allowed to pull up the tile in the bathroom.

which actually is OK if you could sell the property for $2MM or more after you rehab it.

Otherwise...go screw. California real estate is stupid.

I'm sure that's a bargain too. For lulz I picked up one of those local real estate magazines at a store when I was in the Bay Area last summer. 1 house in particular looked about as spacious as a trailer and the picture just showed a boring wall along the side of the house w/ trash bags and dismantled lawn mowers laying around. It was about $500K if I remember correctly

Love those hill-side houses in LA though.

We actually looked at one when we lived out there. It was like 1200 square feet and needed a TON of work (less than the OP) and it was like $550,000.

Pretty tempting until you see documentaries after the Northridge quake where people pull up to their son/daughters home to see if they are okay and all you see is a driveway heading out into nothingness because the house has completely fallen down the hill with them still inside.

I literally saw this on History/Discovery where a Mom and Dad went to go check on their daughter after the quake and rolled up this exact scene. And the wows/oohs/aahss quickly turned to complete terror when the mom (probably mid-50s) jumps out of the car (dad still rolling video) and starts screaming hysterically because the entire fucking house is gone presumably with the Daughter/Husband and their two kids dead because it happened at night.

Nice but boring ...I like my home to have a floor slope of a minimum of 7% all around. Makes sitting at your Lazy Boy a fun and interesting challenge.

Oh my god... My place is a third of the price, almost twice the size, and 83 years newer than that San Jose place.

Hahaha ....San Jose is like an overpriced and old part of Orange County with the worst kind of plain Jane buildings to me. However, I prefer their weather to San Francisco's or other areas around the Bay.

Actually, San Jose prices are cheaper than a lot of the surrounding towns - Mountain View, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Los Altos are a LOT higher.

Here's a house from Los Altos:
