Turbo Changes?

I haven't been on here in awhile since I sold my 1 so I hope this has not been answered yet. I remember hearing that the 1m might come with slightly larger/different turbos then the regulare n54 motor, did any find a definate answer on this yet?

It appears to have the same N54 motor as 35is, so it's unlikely to have larger or different turbos. I have not seen it stated anywhere for sure.

Keep the Mustang, much more nostalgia.

1M = Same turbos.

There must be some differences between the Z4's 3.5 is and the 1M's engine.
I checked a chiptuner (obd) and from the Z4 you'd get 400 bhp and 580 nm. In the meantime, the 1M would reach only 360 bhp and 530 nm (don't know the lbs/ft conversion, sorry.)

The 35is and the 1M are the same engine.

The cooling is different on the 1M (better) so there is no reason why the 1M will not deliver the same output as the 35is.

I think 400bhp is an exaggeration, I think both are/will be good for 370-380bhp and 400lbft (540nm) of torque, perhaps a bit more torque but 570nm maximum.

If you mean they are both N54's, then they are the same engine. The M division did not do any work to the N54 in the Z4is.

They are the same engine mechanically, they only difference on the 1M is software and water cooling capacity (larger fan).

With all respect, but a dealer is just a dealer. Not BMW production management or strategic board.

Also, when I first spoke to my dealer about the 1M, and that I wanted one, he was like "a what ? 1M...what's that ?"
I got my build order with another dealer just 3 weeks later.

Just to say... dealers sometimes know jack sh*t =)

I got five opinions here in the northeast. A couple 'brick and mortar' dealers, a couple online guys. RIGHT NOW, the consensus is pretty much that bmw overpromised and underdelivered on the 1M. Im not able to get one.

Their words, not mine.

granted, I didnt put money down to be on a list - just my belief that when you do that you lose leverage.

Leverage ain't worth much when you don't get a car in the first place!

Yes, found a dealer near me and I got the only allocation they had. Just hoping those money factors go down by end of July.

I'm thinking your logic is based on the Z4 35is (N54, standard 340 HP), compared to a 1 series 135i (probably N55, standard 306 HP)

No tuner has chips available for 1M yet, but some have for the Z4 35is.
Tuned performance for 1M should be on par with tuned Z4 35is, as its the same engine + cooling.

400 HP seems reasonable, coming from 340.
