iPhone question

Hi guys

I have searched through the threads on here and I learnt about the "Y" cable etc but cant get a definite answer.

I have an aux port in the armrest but no usb, this means once my iPhone is plugged into the aux port and driving I cannot control it through the steering wheel controls or the headunit and have to wait until im in traffic etc to even skip a song I dont want to listen to, is there anything I can buy to change this so when my iPhone is plugged in I can use the headunit or steering wheel to control it?

many thanks

As far as I am aware, you will need either an aftermarket ipod kit or BMW's own ipod connection kit. I think you can have the USB retofitted but it would be expensive.

The AUX in is only that, an auxillary input

The only thing I can suggest (i have the same problem) is to buy a headphone extention cable with ipod/iphone compatable controls.

At least with this you can change the track without needing to unlock your phone and look away from the road.
Not idea but if you neat with the way you tuck it in its acceptable.

I have the ipod kit from bmw. It allows control of all features as long as there are not more than 500 songs in each folder. Also this lives in the glove box and uses the multi changer feature. So if you have cd changer you will lose it i guess.

I Belive you need the 6NF option so that you have a USB port and also AUX port in the armrest. Then the Y cable plugs into both ports and should allow you to control the Iphone. Not 100% sure but close to it.

The Mobridge unit gives more flexibility than the BMW aftermarket ipod kit. Plenty of threads on here about it. Use the facility.
